Our beautiful baby boy, Asher, made his grand appearance on Feb 15 at 4:56pm! He weighed in at 7lb 5oz and is 21 inches long. He's got a head full of strawberry blonde hair and could not be anymore perfect!
My due date was Feb 22. I actually posted on Feb 14 about developing PUPPS and I replied to another thread about having absolutely no pre-labor signs at all! We went to bed around 9:30pm on Feb 14 and I woke up to go to the bathroom at 11:30pm. I felt a huge gush when I laid back down in bed so I went back into the bathroom thinking that I had wet my pants. I immediately knew it was not pee because of the smell and the amount of fluid. I was always paranoid that I would not know that my water broke but it was very apparent!! I kept gushing for awhile and then called my dr once I was able to leave the bathroom. We got packed up and headed to the hopsital. At that point, I was not having any contractions at all. We got admitted into the hospital and all settled and my contractions started around 4am. I was 2 cm at that point. I had irregular contractions for a few hours. My doctor checked me at 6am and I was 3cm. He decided to start a little Pitocin to get my contractions more regular. From then on, my contractions began getting more intense and around 1 minute apart. I did a lot of walking which helped a ton! At noon, they stopped the Pitocin because they were having a hard time monitoring baby's heartrate. They placed an internal monitor onto his head. My doctor decided to see if my body would take over with the contractions instead of starting the Pitocin again. I was having some contractions but not regular enough so they started a little Pitcoin again. At 1pm, I decided to get an epidural. I was 7cm at that point. Getting the epidural was more stressful and scary to me than being in labor! I did not like the process at all. I'm not sure I would do it again next time. I went from 7cm to 10cm very quickly and started to push at 2:30pm. Asher was born at 4:56pm after a few hours of pushing! Mommy was exhausted! I had a 2nd degree tear which has not caused me much pain at all.
Overall, I had a wonderful first time birthing experience! I would change a few things next time but I'm happy with how things went. My husband was beyond supportive throughout the whole process as were the nurses and my doctor.
We are over the moon in love with our little guy! We came home yesterday afternoon and he has been adjusting really well!
