Bob owners

we have a 2010 Bob Revolution.  With #2 coming shortly, I'd like to get a double, but we're on a budget and I'm trying to find one used.   I found someone willing to trade their 2007 duallie.  Does this sound like a good deal or you think a 2007 will be too old?  She sent pictures and it looks likes it's in good condition.  Do you think I'll have a problem finding a car seat adapter for it?  Also, is it awkward to use a double w/ just 1?  DS won't be here for another 3 months

Re: Bob owners

  • If it's in good condition, I think 2007 is fine.  There are have been a few BOB recalls (removing a cord, removing backing off some embroidery), so I'd just make sure it's up to date before using with your kids.

Here's a car seat adapter on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BOB-Infant-Car-Seat-Adapter-Duallie-Stroller-CS0702-/160739085976?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256ccbce98  (there might be cheaper ones, but this is just to let you know that they are out there).

  • The recalls are not a big deal to fix at all so I'm sure the 2007 would be fine. I'd go for the trade if you think you'll use a double exclusively.

Personally I wanted to keep my BOB because my older child will eventually outgrow the stroller and then I'll be right back to needing a single and I LOVE my BOB and don't want to have to buy another one someday. I searched for about 3-4 months on craigslist and eventually ended up purchasing a Baby Jogger City Classic double in perfect condition with accessories. It's bob-like, but a tad smaller wheels and is normally a $650 stroller, I bought it for $200. I'd say keep your Bob and keep searching for something used. You have a few months until you'll need it and you might be able to score a great deal on a really nice double and keep your Bob too! If you want something bob-esque you should search for Baby Jogger, Dreamer Designs and Phil and Teds doubles.

Also, if you find after awhile that you are only using the double, then you can easily sell your BOB to cover the cost of a used double. Or if you don't use the double, just resell it on craigslist for what you bought it for.

  • While I don't think it would be a bad trade, you might want to consider holding onto your single as well. My sister has the single and the double and it's nice because LO#1 will frequently want to walk or ride his "bike" rather than be in the stroller so she can still use the single with LO#2.
