Sorry to repost this...I accidentally put in on TTGP and meant to put here.
Is this normal? I called about 8 pharmacies and was told my insurance doesn't cover it...not even partially. This seems like such a common med, I can't believe it's not covered!! I know every insurance is different, but I thought I had a good one and this really sucks!! In addition, not a single pharmacy had it in stock, so they had to order it and said it would be here in 24 hours. Are their cheaper online places to order this next time?

I had HCG with my first RE and my INS covered. I had a $5 copay.. I had Ovidrel which im taking tomorrow through my new RE.. My INS which is Caremark (CVS) wouldnt cover it and it was like $100 something. My REs office ordered through Mandells ( a pharmacy through New Jersey).
How do you go through a normal pharmacy like Wlagreens specialty I Didnt know they had that.
Im curious why the HCG was covered but not the Ovidrel

Where in CA are you? I get most of my meds from mdrusa.com, which is in Encino and Westwood (Southern CA). They have overnight delivery and I believe last cycle's HCG was around $100. You can also google Walgreens Specialty pharmacys to see where they are located. I checked into those and there were a couple in the area. It was more expensive than MDR so that's why I didn't go with them. GL!
Do you know what specific drug you'll be using? Ovidrel, Novarel? If your Clomid was covered, you probably have fertility drug coverage, so I am wondering if the specific drug prescribed to you is not a preferred product through your insurance. I would call them and ask why it wasn't covered. Drug plans normally have "tiers" of coverage, and preferred and non-preferred products.
For example, we chose to go with Follistim for my IUI because it was a preferred product, whereas Bravelle was not and was therefore not covered.

My nurse told me however, that if it was more than $92.50, to let her know, and she would call it in through walgreens specialty. Go figure.

All IF/AL Welcome!
Its crazy how the prices differ so much. Initially I wished I could have shopped around instead of my Dr calling it in for me. Not so much anymore.
The $64 was for generic, I'm not sure which generic it is though. It just says Chorionic Gonadotropin 10,000 HCG.
It's Barron Pharmacy in Beechwood Ohio. It was shipped to me with their 2 day shipping, but I got it next day. I'd definitely shop around if you're paying more than that! Sounds like you can save a lot!
Walgreens speciality are specific pharmacies that carry a much larger number of the more exotic prescriptions in stock. The one I go to when I need same day refills of follistim/menopur is located on the first floor of a hospital complex. My local Walgreens doesn't carry most fertility meds- and I usually have to call I my frolic acid a day in advance so they can get enough in stock to refill me- and they can never seem to manage to scrape together enough for a 90 day supply.
