Oh MIL...

She came over today to watch DS while I had to go to a coaches meeting and DH was working. Things she did that irked me:

1. Threw out an ounce of breast milk! I was home when she did this so she didn't even bother asking me. An ounce is still like gold to me because of the effort it takes to get it!

2. Cleaned out the bottle with the regular kitchen sponge and not the bottle sponge.

3. Swaddled DS in the blanket from the hospital that we use for diaper changes that had poop on it. There were millions of other blankets around and she used the one from the changing table with poop and what we use to cover his wee wee so we don't get peed on. DH saw her do this and didn't tell her otherwise.

Silly things but annoying. I don't like her thinking she can do motherly things better than me. I know, petty, but whatever. Thanks for the vent!

  • vent all you want hun. I know the feeling. I have them telling me to pump so that they can feed him while im trying to keep him from getting confused he is still to little to keep switching in my eyes at least. or they say well if he is still hungry give him to me ill give him formula. the only reason there is formula in the house is because i got a sample in the mail from enfamil seriously it is frustrating for sure.

  • That sucks that she did that.  I don't know what it is with some people thinking it's ok to do some things their way without consulting baby's mama.  My mother came over a few days after DS was born to help out.  She took him for a little while so I could sleep for a few hours.  I find out later than he had been crying for food, and she had been letting him CIO for over an hour.  At less than a week old!  His little voice was sore for a few days afterwards, and he gets frantic pretty quickly now when he's hungry.  She's also been judgemental when we talk to her and say that he doesn't want to be in the crib; she wants us to let him CIO because otherwise we're "spoiling" him.  What finally shut her up about it was when I told her his pediatrician said he shouldn't be left alone to cry for more than 5 minutes at this age.  Even then, I'm hesitant to let her watch him again until he's older.

  • That stinks. My mom hasn't been burping baby good enough and she has had gas. It is so hard to say something without sounding mean. Luckily my mom is very understanding and has been listening.
