What is the best way to cook venison steaks? The hubster got a couple from a buddy in exchange for a pheasant but I have no idea how to cook them. Thanks!

We usually grill them and put a little lawrys salt on them, make sure not to over cook them. I also use the steaks to make stew and stroganoff quite often.
ooh! Thanks ladies! I have never had venison but H is very excited to eat it next week when he is home. I will tell him your suggestions but I am leaning towards stroganoff or chicken fried steak . . .

I always make them in the crockpot because I find that the meat can be tough depending on the deer. Tell your hubby next time to trade for a moose roast!!! mmmmmmmmmmm
Might be a bit late but we wrap them in bacon and grill or bake them. I don't do well with frying anything. I alway over cook if I fry it. The bacon we don't usually eat we just use it for fat to tender up the meat. I also have a friend that told me to mareinaid (sp?) deer in instant coffee or apple juice for 24 hrs before cooking. I haven't tried this yet.
Hope it helps and GL on you cooking!
