I went to this doctor about ttc. We had been trying for a while and my periods were not regular. I had been diagnosed with PCOS. I had lost 90 lbs and he told me that the only reason we were not getting pregnant was that I was too far overweight and that PCOS did not exist. I was 172, but I worked really hard to get there. He told me to come back when I lost another 30 lbs. I got referred to a re and got pregnant 2 months later.
Re: S/o bad doctors (weight mentioned)
Sometimes doctor's annoy me. Glad to see you proved him wrong.
When my Mom was TTC my youngest sister the doc said they couldn't have kids (we have different dads). Needless to say they stopped TTC and about three years later my mom became PG. She was still paying off the fertility treatment bills and sent him a pic of the sono with the last payment.?
I was 180 when I started TTC. I talked to the docs 4 months after and they were straight with me and said I needed to lose 30-40 lbs if I wanted to cut a lot of risk out of my pregnancy. They didn't say anything about infertility, and it was about 4 more months until I got pregnant.
Since getting pg, I've dropped to 170 from changing my eating habits. So far everything is healthy.
I think weight plays a factor depending on how healthy you are. I've been pretty healthy my whole life despite being overweight, so I don't know...?
Congrats on losing 90 pounds! That is amazing.
I can't believe that doctor said that PCOS did not exist.
I also have PCOS and was on Clomid to conceive. In my case I was at "normal" weight pre-pregnancy, but my sonograms and bloodwork told the full story.
I'm just glad to finally be PG.
