My DD is here! (short story and PIP)

Norah Kathleen joined us on Valentine's Day. She weighed 6lb 15oz, and was 18.5 inches long.

Everyone was shocked at how petite she is, given that second babies are usually a bit larger than the first (DS was 7lb 13oz) and that I had GD, and GD babies are usually on the bigger side. I got a lot of praise for how well I did controlling my sugars by diet/exercise alone.

The short version of my labor story is that I went in that morning for my induction, got started on pitocin at 7:30am, had my water broken at around 1:30pm (was still only ~3cm). By 3:30, though I was contracting well enough on my own and the pit had been turned off, I had only progressed to 4-5 cm and I requested an epi. I got that at 3:45 and by 5:15 I was feeling the strong urge to push. The docs got all set up and she was born at 5:29pm. (Talk about pushing for less time with a second baby!)

We are home and adjusting to life as a family of 4. Fortunately, DS thinks she is "cute".  Smile
