Breastpumping

I have decided to start exclusively breastpumping for now.  How many ounces should my 5 day old be getting per day?  I fed him 4 ounces in one sitting and he spit a lot up. Please help!  This breastmilk this is hard!>

    About 2 oz. per feeding. 4oz is too much and will likely cause reflux.

    take his weight and multiply it by 2.5- that will tell you how many ounces per day. Then you can divide that and see how many feedings he needs and how much at each feeding.

    Our pediatrician said to offer the milk and see how much he takes.  You can see the signals when they are full or done eating.  Our LO takes between 3-4 oz of pumped breastmilk.  He is nine days old and we feed him every three hours. 

    Are you stopping and burping mid-feeding?  We tend to burp after each ounce.  It really helps prevent the spit up.  We also really follow his cues for when he is done.  If we go beyond that, he almost always spits up.  Babies know when they are done.
