Old-School Framed Carriers?

DS is over the Ergo. I *think* he may feel confined. I remember my parents carrying my baby sister in a framed carrier. I remember that she could lean front/back and turn. She had room to sit toys or a sippy in her lap.

Any opinions on framed carriers In general? Recommendations on specific ones you love or hate & why? TIA

  • My brother (who is 31 years old) LOVED that type of carrier when he was a baby.  My Mom said it KILLED her back.  LOL  I think they have come a long way since then.

Friends of ours have a Kelty and really like it.

  • Thanks, ladies. I do believe that it would be rough on your back. Hmmm.  I wish I could try one before dishing out $150+. Thanks for the brand rec!

  • If you have an EMS or REI by you they usually have a selection of framed carriers for hiking. Other outdoor gear stores will as well. We bought a Deuter and DH LOVES it. He says it is more comfortable than his backpack. We did lots of hiking as a family this summer which was great. Good luck finding something.
