First weekend in May---is this a good time to go to Disney World?

It's not the summer time and it's not a 3 day weekend.  This would be for 2013.

TIA.

  • I would think so.  The weather would be nice.  It usually starts to get hot in FL in May.  I would think it is lovely because I'm from down here.  You are probably looking at 90's during the day.  I wouldn't think it would be that crowded.

  • I'll let you know, we're going May 5-12 of 2012...hoping we're missing all the school kids, spring break crowds and heat...we shall see!

  • You are better off with Feb or April mid-week.

  • The crowds shouldn't be unbearable the beginning of May, but it will be hot and humid. Our summer weather down here starts kicking in mid April. My birthday is mid April and it's always hot by that point.

  • From everything that I have read when planning my trip for the fall, that time of year is great.  It is after spring break yet before school gets out and the weather should not be too hot yet.

  • It can be pretty darn hot here in May most of the time, so if you're trying to avoid that, that's not the best time. As far as crowds, May is a good choice.

  • Crowd wise May is a good time. Spring break is over and "season" is ending for most of Florida. Although Disney always has people so it is not as much affected by "season" ending. It will be warm and somedays really hot, just be prepared for that. I lived on the Gulf coast about 90 min. from Disney and for us beginning of May is not too bad, but we also have the ocean breezes keeping us cooler. Orlando can feel like you are have landed on the sun when it is really humid or Africa Hot as we like to call it. But it is much better than say June-October. You may have great weather in the beginning of May, just be prepared for some heat. Bring sun protection (including hats) and plenty of water. You can bring your own food, snacks and drinks to the park. So get a softsided cooler and fill it up with bottled water and some icepacks and have fun.

If you need nap time during the day, at Epcot there are some great indoor places you can walk around that are air conditioned, and the kids can nap in the stroller while you walk them around. Or if you are staying at a Disney Resort you can just take the Monorail back to your resort and catch a nap to refresh before going back to the park that evening. We day trip over so I always had to find a good spot for my kids to nap during the hot of the afternoon.

  • We went last year in May(the 2nd week) and it was not bad. There were lines for some things but nothing more than 45-60 minutes. The weather was good too.

I have been in April and October also and would prefer those times though. It is not as hot or crowded.
