Anyone else having to give LO a combination of apple juice and water? My MD put him on it about 2 weeks ago...we are still trying to figure when the best time for it is.Right now i have tried before feeding, after feeding, and inbetween feeding. I dont want him to get use to snacking but inbetween feeding seems the best since i know he gets a full feeding and still takes the juice. If you are having to do this what are you doing? FYI - I'm breastfeeding.

I don't understand what apple juice and water has to do with reflux. I have never read anywhere that that is a remedy. And by trouble pooping, do you mean constipated? Breastfed babies rarely get constipated.
Your MD sounds clueless - how old is he/she? 90?

Actually I know plenty of breastfed babies who have trouble pooping and get constipated. It's a developmental thing regarding the muscles in the colon and has nothing to do with being breastfed or formula fed! And apple juice is definately a remedy for constipation/getting things moving so her MD is not out to lunch.
OP - I would look into infant massage as another way to help baby get things going. I have a friend who specializes in it and she has a few massage tricks that she did with her baby to get things working better so that you don't have to use apple juice as much.
