time for another feeding question!

We've been feeding solids since about 4 months. It started like everyone else..he really didn't care for some things, enjoyed others. He now eats everything with super excitement and doesn't make a puss face. Lately, he's been crying in between some bites. It's not the first few or the last few..it's somewhere in the middle. He never stops the spoon from going in, but it's almost like he's mad that it is indeed the same taste that he's been having for the last few minutes. It's like he needs a variety when he eats already. Not really sure what's going on. Any ideas?

  • I'll take measly advice.

I've tried to shovel as fast as I can. It doesn't seem to be that. Maybe something is upsetting his stomach. I have no idea, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. I guess another pedi question. Until then, I think I'll just keep shoveling it in. Can't cry with things in his mouth, right? i kid i kid

  • We have that issue too, and I have to play it by ear. When it's in the beginning of the feeding, I might not be getting it to her fast enough. If it's at the end, it might be that she's telling me she's done. Sometimes, like you said, there is no rhyme or reason to it. Nevermind, I'm not much help....

  • Have you tried offering something to drink after every few bites (either water, breastmilk, formula which ever you prefer from a glass)?  DD LOVES to drink a few tiny sips of water from a glass in between bites.

This is what we do. We have music playing (my neighbor's advice) and I dance for him to distract him a little bit and when he gets fussy in between bites, I give him a small bottle of water or his prune juice (he's a bit backed up). That seems to settle him.

  • B does this sometimes as well.. It's usually because I'm not feeding her quick enough or she's bored.. Lol! A little singing/funny face and she's ready to eat again.
