Pregnant after IF

Do I need to call my OB now?

I know most OB's don't typically schedule pregnancy appointments till like 8 weeks or so, and my RE doesn't discharge till 8 weeks, but should I call my OB now, just to let them know I'm pregnant, or should I just wait till I get discharged from my RE and make the appointment then?

how does this all work?

  • I would, in case there is a long wait time.

  • I'd call them and let them know you're under the care of your RE until 8 weeks but would like to schedule an appointment with them for about the same time.  Most see you around 8 weeks and there's a lot of blood work, etc that needs to be done around then.

    Congrats!

  • I called before being released from my RE's office, but it totally confused the receptionist at my OB's office.  I don't think she knew what an RE was and kept telling me to come in asap so I could get prenatal care even though I repeatedly told her I had already been getting prenatal care.  I initially made an appointment for 10 weeks, but ultimately went in early because I wasn't sleeping and wanted to make sure it was okay to take unisom.

  • At my first u/s with the RE, she told me to go ahead and call the OB and make an appt. As long as all is well with my second u/s, I will graduate from the RE.
