Soft but thick cervix?

Anyone been told they have a soft but thick cervix? I am dilated 3 cm (have been for 3 weeks now) with intermittent contractions. Just curious if anyone else is in a similar predicament (and if you've already had your LO, how to get out of it!) I know that in second and subsequent pregnancies you tend to dilate before effacement but I am hoping to get the show on the road soon :)

    Mine remained that way until I went into labor.  My OB said that is pretty common the second time around.  Hang in there!
