I'm specifically talking about little things that annoy you for whatever reason. Not gripes about specific people, but pet peeves about what people do or how they format things.
Example: I don't like how people quote something, bold one tiny part of a huge long post instead of just deleting everything you don't need repeated. Yes, I know it's petty. Who cares, just scroll on down. It just makes it longer and harder to follow.
I also hate it when people link something with out editing it to open in a new tab/window.
So what little things bother you?
ETA: Please keep this nice! I have zero intention of trying to start anything. The inspiration came from the UO and FFFC when people start quoting things and it gets really long. To me, that is a harmless complaint that should not hurt anyone's feelings.
Re: What are your bumpie pet peeves?
To be honest...posts like this because they have a tendency to spiral out of control in a heartbeat with hurt feelings left and right...regardless of how you intend the post to go.
That said, I am going to guess that a lot of people don't know how to link propertly (and that is a pet peeve of mine but I undersatnd a lot of people are absolutely clueless and perhaps we need our own little FAQ on how to do certain things like links, PIPs, etc).
BLOG
Ha. This exactly. Not just because it has a tendency to get out of control and get feelings hurt but really...who cares?
Well. That sucks. I know exactly what you are talking about, but I'm really not meaning anything mean in the slightest. I'm really talking about silly things like I mentioned. Now you have me regretting my post and fearing what's to come.
I just want to say I used to hate on the format and spelling of posts, but now I have an iPhone and I get it. My apologies to all I've offended in the past with my rants against block paragraphs and typos!
Today I don't have bumpie pet peeves. I think everyone and everything is hilarious. It is bright, sunny, and Friday. I love life...and emoticons
ETA: NM, I thought of one. I get annoyed when I try to stalk someone and their bumpie profile is private. I can't see their past threads.
Paragraphs are your friends, people
Also, I wish the bump gods would make the page links at the TOP of the page instead of the bottom. If a post is on page four and I've been keeping up with it, why should I have to scroll ALL THE WAY to the bottom just to skip to page 4 to see the last post? Am I missing a secret here, ladies??
I think its annoying when someone edits their post b/c of a typo and puts a note in saying that they edited it b/c of a typo.
The note saying that they edited it isn't needed, if you ask me.
I change it to newest first on threads that I want to watch new answers to, like UO FFFC etc. It's in the top right corner of the thread when you first open it. Also on my computer it keeps it set that way for that thread as long as I have my laptop open I believe.
if it's a multipage post I know I'll be following I automatically switch it to newest reply first so I don't have to scroll down and go to the last page every time.
My only annoyance can be some of the venting about ppl IRL around here. I know its nice to vent, but it always makes me nervous for people bc this IS the internet, and it IS public. I would never say mean things about my MIL here (although I happen to really like mine!) or vent about not liking my job (although again I happen to like mine!) because you just never know when someone could stumble on it! It's not worth the hurt feelings/repurcussions!

Hahaha. This is like opening a whole new world for me. lol. I have it set that way on the main page, but didn't know you could do that in a thread itself.
How? I know how to do it on the main page, but not on the thread. ETA: Nevermind. Just saw Mare's tutorial
One day, you put a smiley on here.. Oh I know! The invisible mommy post! It was a smiley that was laughing and beating on the ground. How did you do that? That's not a bump smiley is it?? Unless i'm just dumb...
I want to know how to make a clicky that says clicky. hahaha. I always try to change it to a new window but can't figure out how to make it say clicky.
I also can't get down how to delete all of the quotes. I usually mess something up and it wont let me post.
1. The bump is suuuuuper sllllooooww for me lately.
2. All the stupid spam on some other boards.
3. Ginormous siggies.
4. Posts titled "Does anyone else?" or "Am I the only one?" make me stabby. First off, it is really, really, unlikely you are the only one having this issue. Second, at least say what the issue is in the title of the post so I can only open it if it pertains to me. A more accurate title like, "No babbling at 9 months?" or "Who else has PP sex issues?" is so much more helpful!!!
you can go copy the smilies from other places and paste them here (they're basically just small pictures). I've copied them from a football board I used to visit that has lots of great ones! I should remember to do that more actually!
we do need more emoticons here though. so many funny ones, and they do help you get your tone of voice across!
crap, they didn't copy! let me try this:
Nope, it wasn't a bump smiley. It was a smiley from another msg board I used to be on. They had the best smilies...so I sometimes go over and steal one to post here...but that is a lot of work for this lazy mama!
Type the word "clicky" or any other word, highlight it, and click on the little picture of the link on the top tool thing. Then insert your link and change it to open in a new window.
clicky
Tutorial:
Type the word: Clicky.
Then highlight that word. Click the chain button on the formatting bar (to the right of the numbers), paste the link in the first box, and select "open in new window" from the drop down box.
This and Ts & Ps for really random things like my best friend's half-brother's girlfriend that has to have a root canal. I love the power of prayer but sometimes it gets a little convoluted.
Totally agree with this! I hate open-ended post titles. lol
If you only want to show a certain part of a post, then delete all the text you don't want. However, make sure you do not delete the brackets [] aroudn the word quote, or /quote or the user name. So long as that part remains, you can remove whatever you'd like.
Honestly, I'm kind of an html nerd
, so I know what to look for to delete and what to save. So, maybe I'm being to harsh on this one.
Thanks Ladies!!!!
I just want to tell you this!

If you're really curious, you can do a google search for their username and limit it to site:community.thebump.com. It's possible that I am an experienced bumpie-stalker
ETA, now that I've read through the whole thread I wish I'd found a better emoticon...Okay I'll just put this gif here.
omg this. sooooo much this!!!
Yay for stalking all the "shh"-ey people!
This this this!! Asking for Ts and Ps should be reserved for something serious, like my child is really sick or something, not "Ts and Ps that my new car comes with leather interior instead of cloth!" I will be asking for Ts and Ps next week. It's something serious about DD, but I'm not ready to type it out yet, because I'm avoiding its reality.
YES! My bump experience has just been revolutionized!
On TK, the page links were at the top. I never understood why TB didn't do that, too. I also never understood why post count transfers between TB and TN, but not TK. Aren't they all the same??
Thread hijacking... I am so excited that you can link .gif!

Mine is petty, but it makes me go completely BSC when I see it. I realize it's a cultural thing, because French is optional in US schools, but mandatory in Canada, so I'm doing my best to ignore it.
I hate when people type "WAH-LA!" instead of "voila!" It's not just some random noise people make, it's a real word, with real meaning. The first few times I saw it, I thought to myself "uneducated moron!", but then I realized it was actually really smart people doing it, and the lightbulb clicked on the culture difference.
SO. For the record, voila is a word based on the french for "look" (voir) and "there/that" (la). So, voila, literally means "look there" or "look at that". Hence, you say something like "I put the soap in here, turn it on, and "voila!" (look at that!), I have clean dishes!.
