Update on Alexandra

So I had a scheduled c-section on the 15th; it went so beautifully. Everything went according to plan. I held my gorgeous daughter who was born 7 lbs 10 oz at 8:02am until around 4pm when a nurse observed that she seemed a pale color. That quickly led to her being brought back to the nursery to be observed, and then us being told that her oxygen levels were only at 60%. I assumed that she would be fine. Within the next six hours, things went from bad to worse and she was transferred out of the birthing center to the level III NICU which was luckily in the same town. She was there until around 7pm tonight when she was transferred again to Stanford's Children's Hospital which is a little over an hour away. Again, we are so lucky that we have such an incredible facility relatively close by.

But it has been a nightmare. She has been intubated and put on a ventilator. They are unsure as to why her respiration rate is at 100 when it should be down between the 40's and 60's. I asked to released early and was released sixty hours after the c-section. I just want her home with me. As we left the hospital it hurt that we were leaving without a little someone tucked into our carseat. When we got home, there was nothing for me to coo over on the couch. I am up right now at 130am pumping to try to stimulate my milk to come in instead of nursing in our glider. Through this all though; my husband has been beyond amazing. He has taken point on the whole thing; driving me everywhere, dividing his time between his brand new baby who is very sick, his recovering wife and his two toddlers who don't understand what is going on. He has been the very best person ever and I couldn't be more grateful for him. He has been a huge emotional support for me.

Please keep my little family in your prayers. I just want to take Alexandra home. I had a break down tonight when I got into bed. There were teh piles of diapers ready. There was the crib. There were all of my soft blankets ready. But no baby. Ugh.
