I feel like the perfect jeans are going the way of the unicorn. I am in search of a jeans that can by my weekend staple. I want them to be soft and not binding without being baggy, and I don't want to worry about showing crack when I crouch down but also don't want a high rise up to my belly button fit. My issue is that every pair I think I like ends up getting all loose and droopy after one wear. Personally, I think you should be able to wear jeans a few (OK, a lot of) times between washes.
Are you supposed to buy them tight and assume they will loosen as you wear them? Any recommendations on brands? I am average size (5'6"/~135) if that helps. I'm open to any advice...
Re: Jeans are very frustrating
Yes. If they fit perfect when you put them on they are too big. They should be a bit too snug at first then they will loosen up after about half an hour or so. Buying jeans is an all day affair for me because I will totally walk around the store for/e/ver before choosing a pair.
Go to Hem. They're awesome.
I got my favorite pair at Nordstrom Rack (~$80 vs $189 regular price). They're Paige jeans (Hidden Hills "high rise") with stretch. I have a "going out" pair and a "mommy" pair. The mommy pair has two buttons at the front which also means it has a higher rise in the back but still a low rise jean overall. My going out pair are the mid rise which is still kind of low for me but looks kickass.
I totally went with Mar's advice and made sure to buy a pair that felt a little too tight in the fitting room. They feel really snug right out of the dryer but they loosen up nicely and they never feel baggy, unlike EVERY other pair of jeans I've ever owned. I can wear them 3-4 times!!! Gotta love stretch.
Don't be afraid to buy jeans that are too long. Focus on the top fit. It's only $12-15 to get them hemmed. I have super short legs so the one pair that was "petite" fit perfect but the other one needed to be hemmed even to wear them with jeans.
