Cloth Diapering

Clothing Sizes?

I am due in April with my first LO. I was going to head to Carter's tomorrow and grab stuff for the LO. They are having a B1G1 free sale and I have a 40% off coupon. I am just not exactly sure if I should go with 3 or 6 month old summer clothes.  Do any 2 time Moms know if Carters clothes run small? Do CDs make a difference in clothing size? TIA

Re: Clothing Sizes?

  • I haven't found that CDing has made a difference in clothing sizes at all.

My DD was born the beginning of March and she's always been on the small side of average. She wore both 3 and 6 month clothes from Carters in the summer.

  • I don't know much about Carters, but I've found that CD has made us move up clothing sizes a bit faster than we would have with sposies, but not much.  I'd say get some of each size, you'll probably be moving up partway through the summer whether the CDs affect it or not.

  • Carters run small

CDs have never made a difference in clothing size. My MIL keeps buying pants a size up "so they'll fit over her diaper" and they end up being huge on DD.

  • My eldest was huge and barely fit into clothes that were his length anyhow, so cloth made it a lot harder.  Fortunately we were in SoCal at the time and he could wear shorts almost year round.  My younger, skinny baby was always fine and it helped keep his pants up so it varies I guess on your baby size :)

  • We have to use double-stuffed pockets, even during the day thanks to our heavy wetter. We generally are a size up in pants, but otherwise, it's fine. Carters seems to run a tad smaller, but it's about all we use, so I'm not sure how other things run. I know Osh Kosh is really small for what their sizes say.

  • Not sure if you're having a girl or not, but I just wanted to comment about style....my DD was pretty tiny and the CDs were pretty big on her, so I found that the one piece outfits that were kind of a bubble shape worked better than say, a top and leggings. She lived in those kinds of outfits through the whole summer.
