Another poll - Employment

The poll about relationship status got me wondering who all here are working moms, stay at home, etc.  Just curious...[Poll]

Re: Another poll - Employment

  • I work full time, though I wish I didnt have to. I'm the bread winner and insurance carrier in the family...so I have no choice. We're in the process of going into business for ourselves and buying a liquor store; so hopefully if that's profitable enough, I can quit working. *sigh* I pine for the day that I get to be a SAHM.

  • I voted for stay at home, although this is not a permanent situation for our family.  I will be back to teaching full time in September.

  • I watch a couple of kids out of my house for a little extra income.  It's not a typical "job," but the extra money toward savings is nice.

  • I work full time from home - but it's a regular office job and LO is in daycare. I stayed with my job when we moved.
  • I am going back to work full time in September, so I'm not sure if I should answer SAH, which is what I do now, or WM, which is what I'll be doing for the rest of my life (gah did that ever sound awful!) lol

  • I voted 'other ' because I work full-time in somebody else's house and bring LO with me. So, both?

  • I was supposed to start back full time in December but my work didn't have enough to keep me employed 40 hours/week.  So they extended my leave through January (unpaid, but with benefits), and then brought me back on 20 hours/week on Feb 1st.  I work three short days a week (mon, tues, thurs typically).  It's not ideal financially, but I feel incredibly fortunate for the time being.

  • I put other because I'm from Canada we are allowed 50 weeks total for maternity/perental leave and I will be returning to my full-time job when it's up. Though I am going to try to get them to let me work 29/30 hrs/wk instead of the 40 hrs/wk if I can. If not I may look for a different part time job that will allow me more hours with O.

Side note, but this is amazing.  I'm so jealous.  Do you get pay/benefits for the whole 50 weeks?

  • I work full time (full time salary, part time hours...I have a fab boss!). I work in the office/field 3 days a week and from home 2 days a week with the understanding that some weeks I may need to go in on my home days.

  • Work full time, M-F 40 hours.  I'm the breadwinner and our insurance is from my career. I wish it all didn't always fall on me.

  • Yes, we get 51% of wage made averaged off the 6 weeks previous mat leave and depending on company if you have benifits you can pay a certain amount to keep them, I think it's half and the company pays the other half while you are off or you can opt not to have them. You have to qualify a certain amount of work hours though, I think it's 6 months 20-30 hrs a week and no unemployment claims in the year..etc.
