How many embryos did you transfer on your successful FET cycle?
Here is my history.. 31 yrs old, unexplained IF. IVF #1 BFP DS born, IVF #2 BFN, IVF #3 chemical, IVF #4 chemical again. I recently had a uterine polyp removed and I am gearing up to start our 1st FET cycle. We have 4 3 day embryos frozen of which 2 are top notch and 2 are ok. Our plan is to transfer 3 if we have 3 survive the thaw. SART FET success rates at my clinic for my age group and diagnosis is about 20%. Has anyone had success with a FET with a situation/history similar to mine?
Thanks to all that respond I know you must get these types of posts often
Re: FET-How many embryos did you transfer?
How many did you transfer in your fresh cycles?
We only had one so that's all we transferred but had transfered 2 on IVF #1 and got pregnant with DS. With the FET, we had a day 5 excellent quality embryo and it stuck...I miscarried but that has nothing to do with the number of embryo's transferred. I say if they are frozen together, I may transfer 2 and then 2 if it didn't work or at a later time. Definitely don't transfer more than you are willing to carry or have.
TTC #1- unexplained...lost left ovary 4/07 IUI #1 2/10/09-BFN IUI #2 3/5/09-BFN IVF # 1-BFP

Just one. No more twins for this mama thankyouverymuch.
Oh yeah, and I only had one
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
IVF 1 = 2, 5-day blasts = BFN (5AA)
FET 1 = 2, 5-day blasts = DD (5AA)
FET 2 = 2, 5-day blasts = c/p (5AA, 4AB)
FET 3 = 2, 5-day blasts = twins (4BB)
I have a whole new outlook on transferring more than 1 after experiencing a multiple pregnancy. Personally, I wouldn't transfer more than 2...but I know the exasperation of going through multiple cycles and getting to the end of your rope. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide!
5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first
Thankful for every day
IVF#1 = 1 blast (BFN)
FET#1 = 2 blasts (BFN)
FET#2 = 3 blasts (Ectopic)
IVF#2 = 2 blasts (BFP- singleton)
Surprise BFP = singleton
FET#3 = 2 blasts (BFN)
FET#4 = coming in March, we'll be transferring our remaining 3 blasts- so we'll see
all my blasts have = AA or BB quality. so yeah- it's weird.

FET 1 genetically-normal blast (Day 6 4BB) = 1 LO. (2 frosties await)
What may be relevent to you is that of my 9 near-perfect Day 3 embryos, 2 were genetically normal blasts and 1 was unknown, meaning 6 were abnormal (or otherwise passed). These were typical results for my age (38). Here's the trick --- how do you know which 3? In my case the normals were the blasts with the worst grades (but no difference at Day 3)! Imagine my surprise if we hadn't tested and I had transferred the best-graded 6 with BFNs or cps and then transferred the last 3 and had twins or triplets! When I look at the embryology report of 16 eggs retrieved, embies #8 and #11 were the normal ones. So like I said, my kid(s) were in the latter bunch.
