Daddy got home on Thursday and we had been ready to go since then!
I posted on Friday and we went to L&D with contractions but were sent home with a 'we will see you soon'.
On Friday morning I lost my MP. That afternoon DH and I went out to see the Budweiser Clydesdales and get some dinner. We got home that night and settled in to enjoy some tv. As I sat down on the couch, I felt a gush and thought I had lost bladder control or had broken my water. So I went into the restroom and quickly realized that it definitely was my water.
We left right away for the hospital. They said that they were very busy and we would get admitted soon. 4 hours later I was in pretty bad pain and was still not admitted. Dh said he was going to get a nurse so I could get some meds and I lost my cool because I realized there was no way that was going to happen. A sweet nurse came in and said she had had enough of me waiting and was taking me upstairs and the drs could find me there.
I got up there and my contractions had gone from 5 minutes apart to 1-2 minutes apart and 2 minutes long and intense. Yet, I had only dilated to 3 cm. I started telling them I couldn't do it and I needed something. The nurse said that she needed an override on Nubaine and ordered me an epi. I got the Nubain within minutes and was totally blown by it. My husband then said he was going to go get something to eat but he thought the nurses had said I would not get an epi yet. I asked him to please stay with me if that were the case. I needed him. Just then the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my epi. He was very good, very fast, and it worked perfectly.
After several hours I was 9.5 with a lip of cervix. I labored for 2 more hours to a 10. They let me push about 4 times and saw that baby's heartrate was dropping and called for a c section. Hmm...
The Surgeon came in and assessed me and said that she thought I could try longer. I had one hour. So, I worked really hard and made good progress. I got to push for almost 2 hours, but we found that his head wouldn't fit. So, then we had a reason for a c section that I was very comfortable with.
I found out that I had done such a good job pushing that it took two people to get Seth unstuck from my pelvis. He was born 20 hours after my water broke. It felt like time flew by. 8lbs 11oz 21inches long. He is so awesome, and DH is the best dad in the world! And if you ever want to know what DH looks like- just look at Seth.
Re: Seth Allan is here. PIP
There he is!
Congratulations on your little man. Unfortunately, I'm using a borrowed computer and it isn't allowing me to see the PIP. Sounds like you had some great doctors that were working with you, trying to give you the best experience possible--and good for you for standing up for yourself and what you wanted--while trusting your surgeon when necessary.
