I've exhausted:
IKEA, Land of Nod, Pottery Barn Kids, West Elm, Crate and Barrel, Ethan Allen, Sleepworld, Macy's, CB2, Pottery Barn, Room and Board, DWR, Modern Seed, Bo Concept, and random googling.
We need at least a dresser, but eventually also a big boy bed (or two) and maybe a nightstand. The set I love is at Land of Nod and is spendier than H would like. Although, after not getting the bunk beds that would have been PERFECT because he wanted to wait...I may just make him suck it up and order them.

I want good quality, not scaled weird, not ugly. Why is this so hard?
Suggestions of places I've missed? We're going to hit a consignment shop in campbell this weekend, so I'm happy to add more places to our tiny list. TIA!
Re: Kids furniture recs
i am all about consignment!! you can get all the purks of the name brand store without the hefty pricetag.
sorry no suggestions but goodluck
No worries- phone posting is always a bit wonky.
Land of Nod is the kids line of C&B - and it depends on what you buy. The table we got for Christmas (Baz's activity table) is really sturdy and solid wood. And pretty. And it has interchangeable legs so that it can grow with him. If you buy anything labeled "ready to assemble" from C&B, it's MDF, yes, but if you buy from their upstairs (in the store) it's generally solid wood and good construction. Also - they don't use flame retardants (across the board) which means that their furniture isn't carcinogenic. A win in my book.
I haven't investigated PBK quality and construction, because frankly, I find everything Pottery Barn does to be scaled horribly and vile. I enjoy PBK's accessories.
I haven't heard of RC Willey - I will google.
Honestly, if we were in Dallas, I'd just design it and have it made. But I haven't found a carpenter I trust out here. This is a time when I miss working.
Awesome. We can hit that this weekend. Thanks!
Wait - isn't that near a bunch of strip clubs? The zoning here cracks me up.
I think they're actually toy and book stores... Granted, they're of the adult variety :-P Oh, and they have lots more stuff in their books ....
Don't confuse them with Babyland which is on the corner of San Carlos & Bascom - they're actually on San Carlos on the opposite side of the street. They have a small lot behind the store if you can't find parking... Have fun shopping!
PS - Berkeley Kids Room (in Oakland) is small but they had some nice stuff too
