I'm sure there is a post on here somewhere about this but what is their bedtime? My DD is 11 weeks and STTN but her schedule is sort of wacky. She's in daycare and gets a bottle when we get home, around 6pm and then gets fussy for a nap around 7pm. We've been waking her up for a bath and bottle around 8:45 and she's asleep by 9pm. She basically sleeps through the bath and last bottle so I'm wondering if we should just start the bedtime routine at 7 and put her to bed for good at 7:30. I'm just worried that will mean she'll wake up at 5am ready to start her day
Re: Moms with LO STTN...
my read shelf:
I'm super jealous of you all! My LO is STTN but wakes up at 4:30 or 5. He goes to bed at 7-730 even if he gets to bed at 9 he still wakes up at 430 or 5. What am
I doing wrong?!!!
I put DD to bed around 7:30, but some nights she fusses and fights sleep until 8:30 (like she did tonight). She sleeps until about 7. She starts daycare next week, and I'm interested to see how her schedule changes after that
Bath time is around 6-6:30
Asleep by 7-7:30 (sometimes this is 8 or 8:30 depending on how late his last nap was).
Wakes up around 5:30-5:45, some mornings he is up for the day, some morning he will eat a little and go back to sleep until 7:30.
lately i've had trouble getting my LO to sleep for his afternoon nap, so he's been going down around 5:30 for bed. it's way earlier than we'd like to put him to sleep but it seems cruel to keep him up when he's clearly tired. we used to put him down between 6 and 7 and i'd like to get back to that b/c i think he slept a little later. the past few nights he woke up once to eat and then slept till 5am. it's earlier than i'd like to get up, but hard to complain too much when he only wakes up once in the middle of the night and is sleeping ~ 11 hours.
for those of you putting LO down around 7-8, what time is their last nap? we've thought about trying to have him nap at 5, and then putting him to bed around that time but always chicken out.
You're not doing anything wrong! Every baby is different. My LO is on a similar schedule to yours. It works out because I have to be up for work at 5am, then LO takes a little nap until my husband takes him to DC.
Absolutely nothing. I know we all hate this answer.. but it's just something that will happen with time. Like you for awhile, despite whether it was bathtime or not, he would always wake up at 4:30 on the dot. We would change him, feed him, then put him back to sleep and he would wake up again at 7:30. After he's fed, changed, and is up for about an hour he would go down for another nap. For whatever reason, one night he stopped waking at 4:30 (we did nothing different) and now for the most part he will sleep all the way through til 7:30. We are still getting it down because sometimes he does wake up if he has slept too much the day before, but like PP says if he does normally he just moves and talks to himself until he goes back to sleep. Good luck and I hope it happens soon for you!
You aren't doing anything wrong. Eventually sleep will be more and more consolidated and more of it will happen during the night and less during the day and hopefully this will stretch out naturally. Speaking from experience some babies really are naturally early risers. DS naturally wanted to wake at around 4:30 or 5... The good news is that eventually there will be ways to train them to sleep a little later. The bad news is that the early rising problem is the hardest to fix. But maybe you'll be lucky and LO will stretch that out on his own!
At this point, really all you can do is try to make sure LO doesn't get overtired. I'm going to guess that he is ready for a nap by around 6. Make sure to get him down for that nap.
As for my LO, she doesn't STTN consistently, but she did last night. She had a bath around 7:30 and She went down around 8 (that's the time she's out nearly every night). She woke up around 6:15.

I think it's just luck at this age.
Danny takes two long naps during the day (one in the morning that's about 2 hours, one in the afternoon that's about 1-2) and one 1/2 cat naps. (mostly in the evening).
He goes to sleep around 10-11 PM (I know, flame away) and wakes up every day at 630 AM....Two minutes before my husband's alarm goes off. We have tried to put him down at 8ish, when he does his 1/2 cat nap and the week we tried that, it did not work.
We let him make his own schedule. I'm basically a SAHM (I have a part time job that's on weekends, some week nights, and my husband is home) so this is what worked for us.
I just have to adjust to being a morning person......I have a feeling the 630 AM wake up time will last forever. lol
I really think at this age, it's just luck. DS started sleeping through the night randomly around 10 weeks. It was 3 days before we flew across country to spend a week with my parents, and I was really stressed out that the trip would mess him up - it didn't! We have no schedule and I changed nothing I was doing. I did notice that he was hungrier during the day, so I was giving him bigger bottles. But no rice cereal or anything like that. He was just ready. Before that, he was sleeping for two 4-5 hour stretches and waking for a bottle between them.
If a schedule and tricks worked, I would have DS sleeping through the night AND napping in his crib.
10-11pm and she wakes up between 6 and 7 am.
