Are you a screamer?

Okay, so I don't actually mean screaming, although, I'm not judging you if you did that either! What was your laboring/delivery style? With my first I had an awesome epidural and really only remember some deep grunting while pushing. With DS2 my epidural didn't work- at all and I know it was the constant loud moaning/groan during contractions that helped me get through the pain. When they moved me from labor and deliver to post partum the nurse goes oh, so you're the one we heard down the hall? I was MORTIFIED! Either way, it got me thinking, what are most women like in the L&D room?

  • I don't think any woman should ever be made to feel badly about the way they deal with labor.  Shame on that nurse.

  • Not cool of that nurse.

My pain meds didn't work. I was loud, but didn't scream. That said, I was super sick at the time and couldn't breathe (so I didn't have the air to scream). Also, after 8 hours, I had an emergency c-section. I'm sure if I wasn't sick and went through the entire labor process ? I would have definitely been screaming.

  • Thanks! I thought that too, but didn't let it ruin my moment- he got out and that's all that matters! I figured I wasn't the first to moan and groan and I won't be the last! :) here's to hoping pain mess with dd are more effective!
  • It helped knowing I was the only one in the birth center that night- Also, I spent the last seven months of my pregnancy taking vocal lessons, so I fully "expressed myself" during labor.
