OMG that is heartbreaking! Our hospital gave my DD formula 12 hrs after birth and didn't really give me a choice in the matter, luckily though they used the liquid kind. I was mad about that, I can't even begin to imagine what those families are going through.
I ended up having to give ds formula too and will this time if needed. This just gives me another reason to try harder at bf and knowing that there is more help nowadays is kinda reasuring. There is nothing wrong with FF.
I started out bf, then we went to most every formula on the market. Finally had to try rice milk, soy milk, almond milk. It was almond milk that he was able to keep down. That was a long year.
wow, that is heartbreaking. When James was in the hospital (born at 35w) he was given liquid formula - even then I was uncomfortable with it. Like you say, Lady, it makes me want to BF even more.
That is so sad. My DD was born at 33 weeks, and to the best of my knowledge they only added formula to my breastmilk the entire 2 weeks.
My heart hurts for those moms ... and the mom who said she didn't even know her DD got formula totally struck a cord with me - our NICU was really bad about making decisions without consulting us. It was horrible, like we weren't even parents yet.
Re: This makes me want to BF even more
We have to give DD formula.
My heart goes out to those families.
Just another thing that makes me so very thankful for the way we live our lives.
