postpartum back pains anyone??

My back is on fire. I don't know if it is from childbirth (how could it be 8 days later??), the epidural, or holding her and nursing her all day.....but man, I hurt. Anyone else?

Re: postpartum back pains anyone??

  • That would be me!! Its my upper back, not my lower at all. I honestly think its from not sitting properly when nursing.

  • Mine kills me at night when I lay down! I feel like there's a big painful void. I slept with a pillow in between my legs during the last couple months of pregnancy. Now I have to bend the pillow in half to make my top leg even more elevated to sleep comfortably.

I read that it's just our bodies readjusting again, with the void of abdominal muscles it should hurt until everything "comes back together". Now I don't know this for a fact, but had read it around day one or two of being home.

  • My lower back hurt for months (i'm thinking 6+ for sure) when I would sleep after DS. If I slept for more then 5 or 6 hours at a time I would wake up in agony. The pain was only from where they put in the epidural and down. I'm not sure if it's connected, but I'm pretty sure it is. Hopefully it's just your body trying to re-adjust itself.

  • For about 2 weeks after my back would spasm a lot and the top of ly butt was very sore. Not sure if that was something with the epi or sitting badly or what. My back doesn't hurt so much anymore, just some normal pains now and then.
