Who was with you during LO's birth? Clicky Poll

Among my friends with babies, the trend seems to be that most of them had just their DH with them at delivery.  The next most common thing seems to be DH and the woman's mother.  I'm curious to see who was there for our August babies' births.

I realize there's probably a variety of answers, but I tried to make the poll as simple as possible.  Feel free to explain. :)

  • DH, my mother, and my aunt were there at delivery.

All along it was our plan for DH and my mother to be there for the birth.  Somehow, along the way, my aunt joined in on the fun, haha.

  • I had a csection so it was just my husband.  Even if I had had a vaginal delivery the plan was always just my husband.  I didn't even want anyone else there for labor.  The plan was for visitors once I got over to mother baby.  That didn't quite work out but that is a story I still have not great feelings about.

  • MY DH and my MOM were in OR for my Csection with son.  My doctor invited her in, we assumed she wasn't allowed.  For DD only DH braise my mom was holding my son waiting in recovery.  Thankfully my mom was with me because DH fainted over son's hand and it was a mess in OR and my mom held onto to me whole time.

  • My H and our doula (aside from, of course our two nurses and the midwife who delivered him).

Nobody local or nearby knew we were in labor until after he was born.

  • It was suppose to be DH & his Sis (Who is my BFF) but it was just DH & I and I wouldn't change it Smile

  • Julia's father was there but did not want to see the crowning/birth itself so kept his head up by my head.  My mom was there watching the whole thing -- she flew in from out of town and got to the hospital right as I started pushing!  My doula was also present.

  • The original plan was for it to be just DH and me during the delivery...but as we all know, plans change. My labor was so quick that my mom and Oma showed up expecting to hang for a while, but I ended up delivering 45 minutes after their arrival...my Oma sprinted out of the room (as well as an 80 year old woman can hustle), and my mom ended up blocked in by the doc and nurses, and didnt have the opportunity to leave before I was on my back and pushing. Truth be told, I'm glad she stayed, cause she was able to take a few pics while my H coached me through delivery.

  • DH, my mom and my sister (she is a L&D nurse and was working that night). Otherwise, I gave strict rules to DH and my Mom that nobody was to be notified until after LO was born, I got cleaned up and rested.

  • My husband was at work (and on a call) so my aunt took me to the hospital. Once he got there he was the only one with me the whole time. Even during labor. My mom lives out of state so she was taking the first morning flight. I didn't think my labor would go as quickly as it did and I went into the hospital at 830pm and had P at 330am. I heard afterwards that my aunt, grandma, and MIL were in the waiting room. We had no idea! Otherwise I would have let them come in while I was in labor but not for delivery.

However I don't know if my very meek and shy MIL would have enjoyed me yelling "***" and telling my nurse I thought "my azz was going to explode" when it was time to push.

  • I had DH, my mom and my BFF. I was there for the birth of my BFF's daughter so it was special to have her there for my birth. I wasn't sure if DH was going to make it, but he did!

  • Hubster, Mom, and sister were in the delivery room with me.

  • With DS (our August baby) I had DH, my mom and my two sisters with me. My dad was in the waiting room. My in-laws were at home with DD. Our texts about him being born weren't received for a couple of hours so they didn't get to come up right away and I still feel a little bad about it.

With DD (our older kiddo) I had DH, my mom, and his mom.

I figure there's already a ton of people in the room and it doesn't bother me any if people want to be there when there grandchild or niece/nephew is born. That being said though I'd like to have just DH when we have our next baby. Just for something different.

Both kids had respiratory distress when they were born and were taken for two hours of monitoring after their births, so I would love to have that ideal bonding time with baby and DH if at all possible.
