Modified Bed rest at almost 37 weeks

I went in for my first internal exam today and was put on modified bed rest.  She did my internal exam and was very surprised to find that the baby was at +2 station (which is very low +4 is crowning) and 4 cm dilated.  So she said I need to stay home rest and keep my feet up until he comes.  This is mainly because I have had 2 c-sections and they don't want me to be far if I go into labor.

I am excited that I don't have to commute to work any longer (almost 2 hours each way) but just over 2 weeks at home will make the days go very slowly.  Luckily I can still work from home so I won't have to decrease my time with the baby once he is here.  I just hope it doesn't drag on.

  • You are very fortunate that you can work from home during the bedrest time.  My only worry if I'm put on bedrest is that the time used is gone and I have no way to save it for baby.

This!  I'm in the same boat.  I'm terrified of bed rest because it means less time with baby!

  • Might be joining you on that whole bed rest thing come tomorrow afternoon. Being monitored for signs of pre-e, and after three weeks, it doesn't look like my BP is going to drop until this baby actually arrives. However, I've got about 4.5 weeks to go, so I'm sure I'll be going stir crazy by the time they figure out what to do about all this.

I agree that it's a good thing you can work from home; a lot of people don't know how great such an arrangement can be! For me, it's a moot point, as I was laid off a week ago. At least I don't have to worry about not having enough maternity leave. Wink Good luck, darlin'.
