Clothing doldrums...anyone else?

When I am home, I am wearing yoga pants, a hooded sweatshirt and a nursing bra/tank. When I go out (which isn't often) I am still in maternity jeans or leggings. Trying not to feel super gross in these outfits (doesn't help that showering isn't happening on a daily basis!).  Wondering if I am alone in this or if this is normal for the first month or so PP.

  • Same boat here.  I know I still have time, but it makes me so nervous since I have to go back to work in a few months.  And of course I'm stress eating all the Girl Scout cookies and V-day candy as we speak, so not helping my case at all!

  • Amen! I am sure we will get our style and motivation back soon! (I may be a hopeful and ignorant FTM with that wish though...)

  • i wear the same 2 black sweat suits  .. and i keep eating all day not good !
  • I lived in maternity pants for the first three weeks post-partum. I can now "fit" in my pre-pregnancy jeans but I have some muffin top going on. I only have 5 pounds or so to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight but it DOES NOT look like "just" 5 pounds.

We have plenty of time and anyone who judges us for being pudgy after having a baby last month needs to shove it! Wink

  • I am in my yoga pants at home too, mainly because I'm lazy. Wink I technically have 3lbs to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight but there's much more flab than there used to be so I have to get back some muscle tone for sure. I have one pair of jeans that was a size too big when I got pregnant that fit pretty well, getting a little big again and one pair that fit fine before that I can button but with the extra gut flab they don't look as good as before. I haven't tried them on in almost a week so I'll try again and see if things are getting a little less flabby. My tops pretty much all fit but I'm less inclined to wear the fitted ones yet. I have a few gift cards and my husband's blessing so I will be doing some clothes shopping once I can fit in all my pre-preg stuff. I can't wait to get back to spin class! Plus I bought a really expensive bikini last spring and got to wear it once. I'm thinking about dangling it in front of me on my spin bike like a carrot in front of a donkey.

  • I have been living in sweats as well--I only have one pair of jeans that fit me that are not maternity. I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight but, oh my, how things have shifted. Plus, it is just more comfy to be in sweats all day!

  • I feel the same way, I'm wearing pants with an elastic waistband around the house.  Yesterday I went to my 6 week OB appointment and I actually put make-up on and felt normal for once!  I'm planning on meeting my girlfriends for dinner next month and am looking forward to wearing something with a non-elastic waistband and something other than a sweatshirt.

  • It took your body 9 months to get this way, and you should give yourself 9 months, if not more, to get it back the way it was.  It will never be exactly the same.  Living in sweatpants is totally normal right now.  This first month especially you are at the beck and call of your child and no one should expect you to have time to pick out a flattering outfit.

You're in this weird in-between stage where you're not pregnant, but you're not a set size yet.   Soon you'll be out of it and will have time to put on something that makes you feel more 'you'. :)
