I have had my AMH taken three times in the past couple of months. The first two came back as a devastating undetectable (<0.16.) Well, I had an appointment Monday where RE ordered a progesterone test, and I asked that she add AMH to the labslip just for grins. I said that I had read online that one woman (not on the bump if I recall) said hers increased by using DHEA and taking other supplements. My RE reassured me that the results just won't improve but would order it anyway.
Well, low and behold my AMH increased. Not by much, but now it's detectable at 0.24! I know that is still super low, and obviously this isn't the magic bullet that will get me KU but it sure does gives me a little more hope that maybe my doctor doesn't know everything. And sometimes you just have to press on anyways and trust yourself! I'm not sure what may have improved it, but the only change I've made is I have been taking 75mg DHEA for about 6 weeks.
My nurse was shocked, and said she had never seen it before.
So I'll ask you ladies - has anyone else seen their AMH increase? And if so, do you have an idea what improved it?
Thanks for listening because I think you're the only ones that would understand why this puts a smile on my face! Any added hope helps!
Re: My AMH increased! Yippee! Anyone else had theirs improve?
Oh, wow! My AMH is .38 & I've never had it retested, but I'll have to do some research on this. Congrats on the improvement!!

Thanks for the link! I had done a TON of research before bringing the idea of taking DHEA to my RE. She said that while there has been research that shows DHEA to help POF/DOR patients respond better during IVF, but she insisted that it would have no impact on the AMH itself. She said multiple times there was NOTHING I could do to improve AMH. I had read many other sites say the same. My results and your link reassure me that the AMH is still not very well understood test, doctors certainly don't know everything, and I should not let AMH alone make me feel hopeless - because it pretty much has. Ah, gotta love having some hope again!

That is awesome news!! I just found out my AMH is low and I was devastated also! I did tons of research and have read about DHEA. When I called my doctor back and talked to his nurse she didn't even recommend it. I had to ask her and then she said "Yes he does order that but usually only when the FSH is high and other labs are off"
I started taking it on Valentines day. I only got 50mg pills and taking it once a day. Do you take all 75mg once a day or do you split it up into 25mg 3 times a day? I have read several different ways?
Once again I am very happy for you!!

Hey! I saw your email on my blackberry, but can't type on my phone well enough to give a respectable response lol. And yahoo mail is blocked at work, which is where I am. I'll reply to you when I get home tonight. I am so elated about the increase in AMH! I hope you get the same results.
