Grabby McGrabberson (an on-the-potty question)

So, LO is a pottying rockstar.  He goes every time he is ever on the potty.  We take him after every nursing session/meal and upon waking.  He hasn't pooped in his diaper in weeks.  All that is fine and good.  However, now when he's on his potty, he has started reaching down and grabbing himself.  I understand that they are his parts to grab if he feels like, so that's not the issue.  However, I don't really want him to get pee or poop on his hands.  Any suggestions?  TIA!

  • try to keep him entertained with books/toys so he doesn't grab. If it doesn't work just wash his hands!

LOTS of good hand washing! Honestly, there's not much else you can do without frustrating you both.

Ditto. G figures out ways to grab despite toys/books/distractions.

  • I give him a little book to hold or a small toy, but he grabs pretty often. Also, we do hand-engaging songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider sometimes.
