I'm a long time user of 1% Hydrocortisone for my mild eczema (doctor prescribed). I originally didn't think much of it b/c it's used on my face and seems mild. But then I googled it (i know - BAD google!) and now I'm a little freaked out. I don't have my next appointment with my midwife until end of Feb., and so I can't ask her advice until then. But I'm curious whether anyone has been given any advice on this by a doctor or midwife one way or the other? I've been reading mixed advice/concerns on different forums. It's difficult to stop using altogher b/c my skin can get quite painfully dry and itchy (especially in the winter).

I was actually wondering the same thing. I have prescription hyrdocortisone cream too, but its only for a random rash that comes and goes (one that no doctor out of 3 has been able to determine what it is... ugh). I went to use it the other day then thought twice. I can just deal without using it, so I haven't really looked into it, but I do plan on asking my midwife about it in a couple weeks.
So sorry I'm no help! Just in the same boat!

If you don't feel comfortable using it while PG, after trying every perscription cream under the sun for my eczema/dry itchy skin, the only thing that ever worked was Aveeno with Cooling Menthol (now called Cooling Action.) It's the greatest stuff ever! You could always try it in place of your cream and see if it works for you.
You could also call your doc tomorrow and see if your cream is okay.
GL either way!

At around 7 weeks I got a rash which started under my breasts and then spread all over my body. I was so itchy that I ended up going to my PCP (OBGYN recommended benadryl cream but after a week the rash got only worse, so OB sent me to PCP). I went to the doc 2 days ago and they actually proscribed me to use 1% hydrocortisone cream to treat what turned out to be a dermatitis. They said they would have given me 2.5%, but since I was pregnant, I can safely use only 1% cream. I am now almost 11 weeks, and the last two days after using the cream the rash seems to get less itchy.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
