Griffin Hospital?

Do you ladies know anything about Griffin Hospital?  I grew up in lower Fairfield County, so I hadn't really heard of it until now.  I'll be talking to my doctors about it tomorrow, but I'm just looking for reviews from personal experiences.

Re: Griffin Hospital?

  • I have heard good things about the women's center, but I have no personal experience as a patient.  I actually do work there occasionally in the OR, but in a totally unrelated field.

  • Gave birth to my 2 DD at Griffin. It was a good experience. The nurses were super nice, and it was very relaxed.

  • I was born in Griffin Hospital Smile... My mom said she liked it because it was smaller than the other hospitals she would have had access to. Hope you get a few more responses!

  • I don't usually post on the CT board - just lurk, but I saw your post and had to comment.  I grew up in Shelton, so Griffin has always been our hospital.  I was born there in the 70's and they have handled all of the emergency care for my family (my brother's appendectomy as a kid, my grandmother's heart attack, etc).  They are a kind and caring hospital with no visiting hours.   My mom has volunteered there too and had great things to say.  From what I understand the birthing center is new and beautiful.  I guess there are actual beds in the rooms as opposed to hospital beds.

    Hope this helps!

  • I do not know much about Griffin, but what you may want to discuss with your OB is the issue of what happens if there's a complication or emergency with your newborn?  Does Griffin have a NICU? Do they transfer the baby to YNHH? That sort of thing.
  • I had my baby at Griffin in Nov and it was a great experience. Nurses were all wonderful!

  • I grew up in the valley and was born at Griffin myself. This is always my hospital of choice and I even switched doctors a few years ago so I could deliver at griffin when the time came. I just had my son there in December and they were wonderful. The nurses are great and the maternity ward is like a hotel. The only concern is if your baby requires a nicu then he/she would be transferred to Yale children medical.
