Pregnant after IF

Q for those who've had FET Success (From IF Board)...

Hi Ladies! I hope it is okay to post here as I am an active poster on the IF board. (So many ladies here helped me tremendously w/an MFI/ICSI question I had months ago for my 1st IVF cycle & I really appreciated it!)

The situation in brief:

I am currently finishing up my 1st FET cycle on estrogen patches only. I go back in on Friday (CD 17) & possibly begin PIO on this day. This would mean the earliest my transfer could be would be 2/22 (CD 22) or 2/23 (CD 23) according to my nurse.

My concerns:

Does a CD 22/23 transfer seem very late too you? If transfer is on CD 22/23, this will mean it is only 8-9 days from beginning my next 31 day cycle. (Wouldn?t that make a very short 8/9 day LP then?! Sorry if a stupid question.)

Did anyone cycle around 20+ days w/their FET protocol too that ended in success? Reason I am asking is I am really worried that my late scheduling now could affect the success of my transfer.

Wonder if clinics monitor others more frequently towards the end of their FET cycles or if they generally schedule FET patients as a matter of convenience?

TIA if you?ve made it this far! I really appreciate your input!

  • Hello,

My FET was a little bit of a different protocol then yours but I will still try and answer your questions the best I can.  I was on delestrogen injections instead of patches, but same basic concept.  From my understanding with the RE completely controlling your hormones in an FET the timing is not important, as long as the progesterone is given at the appropriate time in relation to the FET.  For example, my clinic gave me a two week time frame where I could schedule the FET.  They felt that once the lining was thick enough they could schedule the FET whenever was convienent for me and them.  I don't have the exact day of my cycle my FET was on handy but I know it past 20 days.  It was my first FET and we were very fortunate and were successful!  I wish you the best of luck, I hope to see you over here very soon!!!!

Thank you, this is so good to know about controlling the hormones & progesterone! I am so happy you shared all this with me! A 2 wk time frame to schedule an FET makes me feel so much better as does the fact that your FET was past 20 days too!  I am so happy to hear that your 1st FET cycle was successful!!! Congratulations!!!! (I am not a fresh transfer candidate due to extremely high OHSS risk so frozen is our only way to go.). Hope to see you here very soon! Thanks again for helping me understand all of this & sharing your experience with me!! I am very relieved now!

  • No worries on a late transfer. My ET was even later at exactly on cd30 this time around. They delayed my transfer because I had a small cyst in my ute and they wanted to ensure it went done before transfer. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing that with me! This makes me feel better hearing this too - that your FET was on CD 30! I did not know they could be done this late but this is so good to know esp. since I have a hx of cysts as well. Thank you again. And  Congratulations on your successful FET!!!
