What's cookin'?
I made Cincinnati Skyline Chili, which is still simmering so it will be ready whenever DH gets home from work (he's already 2.5 hours over his release time, so I may not be able to wait!)...it smells so good!
There's also a pan of brownies cooling on the counter. I think I'll be eating one (or two) with a scoop of pumpkin ice cream. Mmm...
The chili recipe is here, for anyone interested: https://joelens.blogspot.com/2010/06/cincinnati-skyline-chili.html
Re: What is/was for dinner?
Please enjoy those brownies for this GD mommy. Not so much the pumpkin ice cream though
DH made red beans and chicken...it was good, although the red beans weren't cooked enough, but I couldn't wait any longer to eat!
That's exactly what we had last night
DH really wanted venison again tonight so we had stroganoff made with it tonight.
Me (33). DH (37). DD (2.2012). MCs x4. After 4 years & 7 months, due 4.2018!
We don't even buy ground beef anymore! Everything is made with deer! We had Sloppy Does the other night and they were delicious!
The ILs had us over for a turkey dinner. Mmm. I, of course, loaded up on turkey and stuffing with gravy and DH's cousin's wife brought a yummy spinach salad. Angel food cake for dessert. I do not feel nearly as stuffed as I should right now.
I asked DH to bring home Chinese tonight, but he opted to "make" Chinese instead. It consisted of white rice, broccoli, cauliflower, chopped up leftover pork chops and soy sauce. It did the trick!
This is my favorite meal ever... fresh crusty bread + good fruit and cheese. Yum.
We're having leftover Chinese tonight.
My husband and I used to have meals like that all the time, a few gourmet cheeses, tasty meats and I usually make some sort of tomato basil stuff as some compote... MMMMMM, I had salmon with some whole wheat pasta, I made a sauce with fresh tomatoes garlic olive oil and a spoon of pesto, was pretty good!
