Ladies, I see a lot of questions regarding child support and paternity. Every state is different, and we can only tell you what it's like in the state we live in. The first place to start looking for answers is Google. Search for your state's child support division. Click on the official link. Don't look at lawyer site, calculators, About, Wikipedia, or anything else. There is a wealth of information to be found on your local AG site. Once you have that info, then look for a lawyer, etc, IF you need one. Here, Texas, you don't. The AG represents you and the child.

Attorney General. They generally have a division who deals with these issues. But, I can't say for sure that all states are set up this way.
