RRFD came and vacuumed my house

I worked 7p-7a last night and took Emily straight to her eye appt this morning. Got home around noon and FIL watched the girls so I could take a 3 hour nap. To keep myself awake until bedtime, I power cleaned the house, ending with vacuuming the living room. When I stopped I noticed an acrid electrical burning smell and Abby asked "Mommy, why is there smoke in the house?". Really more of a haze but the same thing happened with a space heater a few weeks ago but I blamed the heater. Now I was worried something might actually be smoldering in the wall Indifferent

I called 911 after unsuccessfully trying to call the Fire Department directly. I only stopped to grab jackets off the front table for the girls and we walked out the front door in our barefeet while I was on the phone with them. Luckily our neighbor was outside and quickly offered to take them in. The unit that came out didn't run lights and sirens which I was grateful for.

They smelled it too and there was still a slight haze. They vacuumed for a little bit =P to see if they could replicate the smoke or see any hotspots around the outlet or the surrounding wall. Nada. *shrug* At least I feel safe putting my kids to bed under this roof, KWIM? We'll prolly need to consult an electrician to get to the bottom of it but I'll try just not using that outlet.

I kinda wished I was wearing makeup for some cute firefighters to be at my house but at least I did have a bra on!! And my house was immaculate. I'm sure they noticed right??? Embarrassed  Enough excitement for one day. I'm gonna watch me some Chopped, eat an entire package of gluten free ice cream bars and crash out before 10.

    Yikes!  That's kinda scary.  Glad they didn't turn up anything urgently serious, and I hope you're able to identify the source of the problem.

    Tell the truth, now:  Are you and mcurban just trying to check out every guy on the police force and fire & rescue?

    Ha! There are going to be a lot of "false alarms" from Nesties this week checking out the hotties.
