Special Needs

F/U Special Needs Service

So, a couple weeks ago I asked for input on a service I was planning about having a child with special needs.  See original post here...

Well, I finally gave my sermon and I wanted to share with all of you what I said.  I gave my "sermon" in two parts.  The first part was the actual sermon.  I thought I would keep it simple and simply give the congregation a view of what its like from the inside.  Here is a link to that text...

Then, for the second part of my "sermon" I shared a video of pictures from my daughters first year of life.  You can view that video here...

In the end, my minister said it was her favorite service of the year.  I still can't believe how well it all went.  Many people cried and then came up to me afterwards, thanked me for sharing and gave me a hug.  The entire congregation was so supportive and so loving.  Sometimes (most of the time) it feels like my husband and I are on this journey alone, but this weekend showed me just how many people are there for us.  It was truely moving.

The best part... Our church is very close to Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald house.  This past Sunday we had two visitors who are staying at the Ronald McDonald house.  They approached me after the service, shared their stories with me, and told me they felt like I was speaking for them the entire time.  I learned later that they sobbed throughout the entire service.  It was truely the most touching thing I have ever experienced.
