Re: ~*Weekly PG Check-in*~

  • Congratulations on the new baby girl!

QOTW: We did take a tour at St. David's North (Women's Center), and I'm glad we did. Not a ton of useful info, but some things were: where to park, not to use the ER, which doors are locked, how to change nurses if you don't "click," etc. We were surprised by the extent of the security, and glad to learn about what the rooms look like (big!), among other things. Definitely worth the hour commitment.

Update: I'm writing this week mostly to tell all you 2nd trimester women: ENJOY! I felt so good for those middle months, and glad I expended a lot of energy, because third trimester is decidedly less fabulous. I feel HUGE and some days the babe is so low that he's on my bladder, which is excruciating. Other days I am just huge. With less than 7 weeks to go, I'm getting a lot of comments like, "any day now, huh?" which makes me lie sometimes and just say, "Yep!" So I'm trying to take advantage of the good days - exercise and get a lot of work done - so that on the super uncomfortable days I feel less guilty and less achy from not moving around so much. Oh, and I'm starting to think that we really need to get the nursery started/finished.

  • QOTW: I did pre register which was great since I had great emergency stay at L&D the other week. Made it so easy to check in. We didn't do a tour but I stayed there so I'm counting that.

Update: I'm so done. I hate complaining but geesh. I feel sick everyday. She's so low in my pelvis that anything other than lying down is a chore. However her feet are on my stomach so I don't realize I'm hungry until I'm already sick. I try to eat every 3 hours but I'm so tired it usually doesn't happen. I have slept more than a 2 hour stretch since I can't remember. I til her last night that in 3 weeks she is free to come whoever she likes.

  • Yay for new baby!

QOTW: I haven't done a tour but since I spent a week in the antepartum ward of L & D, I'm pretty comfortable.  I may do a tour still, we'll see.

Update: Since my GD diagnosis last week I've been working on modifying my diet - and so far have been successful (so no meds, yay!).  Met with a nutritionist yesterday and am pretty on track.  Nothing like not being able to eat carbs to make you realize just how addicted you are to them!  I'm not a big meat eater so it's been hard to find appetizing meals that have enough protein for twins, get enough calories in, etc.  Ah well.

Babies are still cooking - which is the best news!  Will be back at dr tomorrow for cervix check and u/s.  I am SOOOO uncomfortable now. I work from home but have been working from bed since I'm on bedrest and it is so uncomfortable to sit up!

Hope all you ladies are doing great!

  • QOTW:  I have not pre-registered or taken a tour yet, but I figure once we get closer to the end of the pregnancy, we will do that.

I had to keep from posting an PG update last week b/c I noticed an IRL friend posting on this board.  I hadn't yet told her, so I didn't want her to find out via public message board.  It's weird, I know this is a public board, but it feels so hidden and private.

Update:  Let's see...I have to pee all the time - and I'm sure that's not going to stop anytime soon.  My boobies are sore and starting to overfill my bras.  And I'm starting to get a more of a belly.  I have one more week until we spill the news to the world and I can't wait.  I'm trying to decide between telling people next Tuesday at exactly 12 weeks, which happens to be DH's birthday, or waiting till after our 12 week appointment next Friday just to have a little more reassurance.  Thoughts?

  • Congrats on the baby girl!!

QOTW: Not yet, but I'm sure we will later. My SIL delivered at Seton, so at least I've been there.

Update: I'm fine. Although I'm not nauseous all the time anymore, I have spurts of serious nausea that seem to come out of nowhere, are really intense, and then go away. Very strange. Plus the headaches are still coming several times a week.

We are ready to go public though--I have told most of the people I wanted to tell in person, so we will probably do a FB announcement next week after I tell my boss. Fun!

@Ruthyk I would probably wait until after the appointment, just to be safe.

  • QOTW: We have not done a tour, and probably won't. I will be delivering at the same hospital we had DD at, and was very familiar with it by the end of my last pregnancy.

Update: I got the results back from my 3-hr GTT, and I have GD again. Starting this week we'll keep a log of my foods/numbers before the doctor moves to meds. Overall I'm trying to be positive about it...but I could really use a loaf of french bread to drown my pity party in.

  • QOTW:  We have taken a tour of the hospital (Se ton M ain), but I'm dragging my feet on pre-registering, mainly b/c I don't want to start getting harassed for pre-payment by the billing dept.  My plan is to pre-reg a few weeks before.    I thought the hospital tour was helpful, mainly b/c I'm type A and like to know what to expect.  The tour basically started at where to park, which doors to come through, all the way through registration/admittance, and ended up back at the exit.  None of my friends have delivered at this hospital, so for me it was nice seeing the rooms, seeing the equipment, learning the process for labor/delivery/postpartum.  DH went with me and he felt the same way.  Now he knows where to get me popsicles, where the nursery is, etc.

Updates:  Not much new to report.  Baby girl is having a hayday in my rib cage which has become really uncomfortable.  My bras aren't fitting, and I've been to be resized 3 times now (both at Nordies and Pett ico at F air), and the bras still aren't working - they get SO tight when she's playing up there, and are leaving red marks on the top of my belly.  I switched to no underwire thinking that will help, but it hasn't much.  I think she's still breech, so that isn't helping that her biggest body part is competing for space up there.  And since I have a HDBD pic this week, here it is (30W3D)

  • I almost didn't even open this post because I know I'm next on the list, and I'm just not ready to see that in writing yet.  Indifferent  Some moments I'm ready, but mostly I'm not.  I'm trying to enjoy every minute I can of this, because we never thought we'd be here, and may never be again.  I am getting a little tired of all of the "OMG you're so huge you should pop any second" comments.  But I'm responding with "yep - due any minute now" and kind of enjoying the freak-out responses I get.  It's funny that people actually think it happens like it does on TV - nothing, then water breaks, lots of screaming, then BAM baby comes out, all in 10 minutes.  And it's not just men!

QOTW:  We're using the birthing center, so it sounds like it's much, much easier as far as paperwork goes than the hospital.  We're all set up and paid, and now we just show up.  I love, love, love my midwives, and I'm honestly kind of looking forward to it all.

  • Wow, there are SO many April and June babies due!  Congrats to balihaigirl!

Update: got my 3rd round of betas back yesterday.  They had to be at least 1280 and ended up being over 5000!  Whew!  So I was allowed to schedule the first appointment... settled on 3/1 so that DH could attend and I'll be 7w3d at that time so I would think that gives us excellent chances of seeing a heartbeat.  Feeling good, just all bloaty and stuff.  Tired the past few days.  Thought I was getting twinges of m/s last week, but I think it was more related to traveling and motion sickness than m/s.

  • QOTW: We haven't registered with the hospital yet and won't be doing a tour again this time.

Update: I had my 20 week appt yesterday and the anatomy scan. Everything looked great and he was soooo cute! It was really nice. I'm still loving Nurture obgyn. I've been stressing out about weight gain and Liane was really great. She basically said weight doesn't really matter to her as long as everything is looking good with the baby, but offered some great advice for how to avoid the constant blood sugar crashes that are making me feel like I have to eat nonstop. I'm hoping it helps :)

We got some really cute pics of the baby from the u/s. This is my favorite. Look at his adorable nose!:

  • We will take a tour at some point since I delivered DS at Seton Main and these girls will be at NAMC. We'll want to know where to go and all that good stuff.

Update: Just trucking along weighing more than I ever have in my LIFE. Good times. Babies are moving a bunch and belly's getting bigger every day. I have another u/s with my MFM at the end of the month.

Congrats to balihaigirl! And great job cooking babies, Atlantic! I know that bed rest is sooo hard. Can't imagine it with a toddler :( Glad you've got lots of help!

QOTH:  Haven't pre-registered or taken a tour.  Probably won't end up taking a tour.

Update:  Got my wall decals in for the nursery today, can't wait to put them up!  Baby is moving like crazy and I love it!!  Everything is going good, no complaints.

  • QOTW: We haven't done the tour but will.  I have been in NAMC before for work and that hospital is so big and confusing that I want to know exactly where to go.

Update: After our scare last week, we go back to the doctor on Monday for another ultrasound.  I'm a little scared still but also so excited because we should be able to see the heart beat this time.  The nausea has been kicked in full gear.  I am feeling sick all day every day except for when I eat I feel better.  I try to eat more often and less at a time but that only helps for so long.  Nothing sounds good when I need to decide what to eat and looking at raw meat makes me want to gag, so cooking has not been fun around here!

QOTW: Well I've been to our L&D a few times already : I know where it is :) I will say I found it funny that they specified (in their online tour) that partners much wear PJ's when rooming in with the Mom... I might have to ask for the story behind that one.

UPDATE: I keep meaning to do a belly picture, but yeah, I'm lazy to do it my self and the husband has been uber busy at work lately :

I get monitored weekly (moving to twice a week next week) and Baby J is still looking awesome.

Over the weekend I suddenly had a weird football shaped belly and we were hoping he'd flip and found out today he did! Yay for that!

I have a last biophysical u/s on Friday so that should be fun to see Baby J :)

I'm quite uncomfortable and having braxton hicks off an on through the day. At night it's like my belly turns into a boulder that is extra heavy and hard to move around with and get comfy, so sleeping pretty much sucks.

But we are still hopeful for a vbac and feel like all the movements and other stuff is only good signs :) I start acupuncture to help get labor going in a week :) and I started taking EPO orally yesterday. I guess next week I'll start taking it at both ends :)

  • Yippee for the new baby!

QOTW: no tour yet, probably over Spring Break. The hope is to deliver at Seton Hays, but if I go into labor before 34 weeks, they'll ship me to Main, so do we pre-register at both?

Update: Found out last Saturday that she's a she and not the he DH was convinced we were getting. Her name is Elisabeth Isabelle. I popped last week, big time.  I was a bit overweight at the start of the pregnancy and I've only gained 5lbs total, so I'm very happy with that. I keep waiting on the second trimester fab feeling to kick in. No sex drive, tired all the time, and the bathroom breaks are increasing to ridiculous levels. :(

  • QOTW:  I'm using a birth center, so no need to register--we're already paid in full.  I took a tour when I did my interview to make sure I was a candidate since I am a vbac.

UPDATE: Let me start by saying I would love some cheese please to go with my whine.  I am so uncomfortable.  I don't remember being like this last time.  Work totally sucks--I am super slow, not even close to having things ready for my sub (let alone keeping up with the day-to-day), and I feel pressure all.day.long.

I feel huge.  I don't like it.  Baby is head down--yay!  However, Tiny is posterior--boo! I've been doing some exercises my midwife suggested.  I am hoping it works.  Who knows, I might go for some acupuncture soon.

I had my strep B test yesterday, and while she was there, she did an internal.  I know it means nothing, but I am 1cm, have a very thin cervix, and am at a -2/-1 station.

I would appreciate and "stop being posterior and turn" dust.  L was posterior and wouldn't come down--after pushing for 3 hours--and ended up with a c/s.

Here is my latest bump:  I am all baby...I stick straight out.  Ignore my sullen look.

  • Congrats Balihaigirl on your new baby!

QOTW: We haven't registered yet, but will be registering after our appointment in 2 weeks.  They didn't mention anything about a tour, but I'm actually pretty excited about the idea.  I hope we get to take a tour!

Updates:  We got our bedding and I'm loving it!  There's an elephant pillow that I want and a print that has an elephant on it (we'll have more prints than just that).  I tried to make it clear that I don't want an elephant theme (or any theme for that matter), but I think it's slowly turning into an elephant theme.  People keep buying us elephant stuff!  I'm no longer feeling solid on our name choice.  I think Owen is what we'll end up going with, but I'm starting to fall in love with the name Harrison.  His movements aren't as strong as they were last week and that's making me nervous, but I'm sure he just moved to a different position.

I'm loving all the belly pics this week!  Here's my most recent.
