I couldn't help myself so I did a test yesterday and got a BFN. I don't expect my period until tomorrow so I'm hoping that I just tested too soon but part of me is fairly certain our 2nd IUI didn't work.
We did one IUI with Letrozole and one with Chlomid. I guess the next step would be to try the fertility shots but I'm a little nervous about that. It seems like it is a much bigger time commitment (with blood tests, ultrasounds, etc.) and obviously it is a lot more expensive.
How many IUI cycles to people usually do before trying something else? This is all fairly new to me. We've been TTC #2 since August 2010. I never thought it would be so hard since the first one was pretty easy.
Any success stories with IUI or advice on fertility shots would be helpful.

Re: When to test after IUI??
We have been trying about the same amount of time, with unexplained IF. I have done two IUI's both with clomid and trigger. We are moving on to our third, first with Femera. My RE said it wouldn't be unusual to do 5 or 6 IUI's without injectibles but that might be because I don't have an actual diagnosis. At this point IUI is really to just increase the odds a bit.
I personally would try one or two more without injectibles first. Have they done a trigger shot for you? That is fairly inexpensive.
Thanks for responding. I have not heard of a trigger shot. What is that? How old are you, if you don't mind my asking? I'm going to be 36 in May and that's the only thing I can think of as a reason for us having trouble conceiving. We don't have any diagnosis either. We both checked out fine so it's frustrating!!

i did 2 rounds of clomid with trigger shot and TI, and then decided to be more aggressive, i just did my 1st round of injects. It defintely is a big commitment but nothing like IVF in my opinion. I have unexplained infertilty, so my RE said at most he would want me to do 2-3 cycles of injects and move onto to IVF, I am oop, so i think i would do one more round of injects and then move onto to IVF, this cycle cost me about $3500 so i wouldn't want to throw that down the drain and instead put it towards IVF.
I have a friend who concieved on her 1st try with injects on 2 pregnancies, so it can work.
i am in the 2ww now so we will see how i do.
Sharon - my first IUI with clomid worked with my DD. this time has been much harder. I've had 5 IUI's this time - 1 with clomid, 1 wtih letrozole and 3 with injections. Our next step is IVF. We have a diagnosis of PCOS and DH does have a low sperm count but it isn't awful.
Our Dr. said if this go around doesn't work, not to waste anymore time on IUI. Our insurance covers 6 IUI per lifetime (no including the meds) so we figured we would use those up before considering IVF but if everything for you is OOP, I would only do IUI 3 or 4 times before looking at IVF.
Again good luck Sharon
Hopefully you won't have to worry about it anymore!
I have a similar situation. We had no problems with my DS, this time its been about a year since my miscarraige nad no luck. I am currently on my 3rd IUI cycle with clomid and HCG injection. Hopeing this works, if not we shall see whats next.
