So DH keeps saying I don't look pregnant. Is he crazy? I'm hearing this from other people too. Like, Oh you look great, you don't really look pregnant.
I guess this is meant as a complement, but at 8 mos I want to look pregnant. I've gained 30 lbs and my face doesn't even look the same. So, I don't look pregnant... great! I've just developed a huge beer gut? I always have multiple chins?
Plus, I've been monitored closely for growth and this makes me really paranoid that LO isn't getting big enough. Other people don't know this, but it makes it even harder to smile and say thanks! It makes me worried. I mean, I think I look pretty big!

Re: I don't look pregnant? PIP
Dont worry, you look pregnant! people think they are paying you a compliment. I get this a Lot. I am 29 weeks and I am tall so I carry long and wide, I have a co-worker who is 4 weeks further along and about a foot shorter than me and it looks like she shoved a basketball under her shirt. So everyyyyyyone keeps saying to me, you should be happy, you don't look pregnant (WTF right?) I really want to say thanks for telling me I look fat instead, cuz its obvious that I have gained 25 pounds! I try to tell myself over and over that for some silly reason people think they are being kind by saying this and to just grin and bear it. I rant to my DH tho, and I would definitely explain to DH that he isn't doing you a kindness. He would do better to say " you are so beautiful when you are pregnant! Or I love your kick ass pregnancy curves." Men need to be told sometimes :-)
I think you totally look pregnant!!!
Now, you do look petite, and you aren't "as big" as some other ladies... but everyone is different!
I think you look great!
Thanks! I try not to have a disturbed look on my face and just smile. DH really should know better. Last night he even said, you just look chubby. Well... thats kind of you valentine! But then backpedals, saying I look better now than ever and was too skinny before. And he can't wait until I'm really huge and I need to eat more. He's real smooth.

i think it's more of a case of you don't look that pregnant.
people think they are being nice when they tell you you "don't look pregnant."
they don't realise that you might take it as, "you look like you just got fat!"
you look about as pregnant as i did at 22 weeks, honestly. but i'm a flippin' house right now, so...
Take it as a compliment, because it's honestly meant to be just that. They aren't saying that thinking that it might upset you. You do look great for being 32 weeks and definitely look pregnant. (I personally may not ask you when the baby is due if I was casually speaking to you.) Seriously, enjoy being pregnant and still looking hot. ;-)
You'll keep growing and there will be a point where people wouldn't even second guess that you are pregnant.
Ah I see.
Its just a weird "complement"
What is wrong with looking pregnant? : (

I know how you feel. I'm 27 weeks and strangers still don't realize that I'm pregnant. I'm amazed at this point that I have to explain to people that I'm pregnant. Most people just assume that I have a belly or am getting fat until I tell them.
At least you have a cute round bump. The area around my belly button still won't pop, so when I bend, I have a crease in my stomach. So, basically my stomach looks fat, even though my stomach is pretty firm.
One thing I do appreciate about strangers not knowing is that I haven't gotten any unsolicited advice from them. It's nice to not have strangers try to come up and touch my stomach lol
You look great and you look pregnant! I have been told the same thing over and over as well. At 33 weeks not a single person has noticed my pregnant belly that didn't already know I am pregnant.
Try to take it as a compliment! But I'm with ya!
You kind of look like I did at 33 weeks. Here is my 33 week shot:
By the way, you are just over 7 months pregnant if that makes you feel any better. You hit 8 months at about 36 weeks. If you're like me, you'll pop a lot in the coming weeks! Don't worry.
You look pregnant! You also look like you have a long torso, that would explain why you don't look super huge. I am short with a very short torso and I stick out a lot more since the baby can only go out :P

I've had similar comments thrown my way by co-workers and strangers, and had the same concerns that you have to the point that i constantly ask my doctor about my size and the baby's fundal measurements. She really did a good job of reassuring me, or at least enough to make me less worried.
Doctor said that I'm "all belly" - I don't look pregnant from the back, or my arms/legs are not significantly larger than pre-pregnancy - this is most likely what other people mean when they comment about my "tiny size".
She also mentioned that I am petite before pregnancy, so I shouldn't expect to be significantly bigger than that - I am 35 weeks, 5'7" and now weigh 138 lbs (pre-preg was 108 lbs!). She also mentioned that it isn't realistic to expect a 8-pounder baby. She said that anywhere between 5 closer to 6-+ lbs is what she expects it to be and that is okay. Next week (my 36 weeks) we have scheduled a growth and biophysical ultrasound just to check.
I am still a little concerned, but like many have said in this community before, if the doctor isn't too worried, then I shouldn't be either.
Hope that helps.
OMG...thank you for posting this! I have had many comments that i don't look that far along, you don't really look pregnant etc and i'm 32wks as well. Believe me...i'm showing and look pregnant! I think people don't realize that it's not a compliment and makes you feel like you are not eating enough, or something is wrong. But just reassure yourself this...if you were not gaining weight your OB would have been screaming at you! That's why they weigh and measure you, check your BP to see your wt gain and make sure it is not too much or too little.
I have a bump and love it. I was not 'afraid to gain wt' or freaked about getting pregnant. I couldn't wait to gain wt and rub my belly! Please know i'm not a skinny mini pre-pregant! I May not be the biggest/jetting out bump and at times feels like i have a 40lb bowling ball inside of me! Just embrace it, love it and know that your baby is growing and you are doing everything right.
Everyone carries so differentially and depending if this is your first or fourth as well.It is amazing what people will say to you!
You look great in your pic!

This! I had 2 people tell me yesterday that I looked like I was going to have the baby any minute. I tried to smile while I said "No, 2 and a half months to go...."
You defintiely look pregnant! I think people try to say this like a compliment, since our culture's so obsessed with being thin and all. You're right, though, that it can be worrisome- I've been getting the same "compliments" about how small I look for 8 months, and it freaked me out that something was wrong. But no, I'm measuring right on schedule and I've gained about 28 lbs.
Just the other day I was in the ladies' room at work, which we share with another office on the floor, and I just happened to comment to a woman from the other office that I might as well move my computer into the bathroom stall since I was in there so many times a day (ha ha), and she kind of looked at me for a second and then was like, "Oh, are you PREGNANT? Wow, you camouflage it well! I had no idea!!" Well, that is sweet and all, but I assure you that I look like a snake that swallowed a raccoon or something. Especially that day- I was wearing a more form-fitting top that makes my bump look like the size of a dang VW Beetle. So I think it's just something to say, is all.
