I've done so since we were in the hospital! The nurse told me it was a good idea to help keep track of her wet diapers and I haven't stopped since!
I've tried quitting but I don't see why- it just makes it harder on me since I have to remember the last time she ate and how many diaper she's had already. I find it easier to have a little notebook in the kitchen (out in the open next to pantry where her bottles are). At the end of the night, when DD is already asleep and I'm turning all the lights off, I just quickly count all the diapers for the day and her total intake in oz.
Am I the only one that does this?? I tried finding an app and couldn't find anything simple enough to use and quick. I might just be carrying my little notebook everywhere for the next 5 years!
(I'm just messing about the 5 years..maybe I'll stop when counting diapers is no longer necessary )
Re: Do you write down when your LO eats/poops & naps??
We did for awhile after bringing her home, it was mostly to track how long she ate and when and from what side. We did also record diapers though, because we changed her every time she ate anyway.
I haven't done all that in a long time, but I did just start tracking when she eats and when she naps, just because I'm trying to figure out what her tired times are. She previously always napped in my lap and I'm trying to get her to nap in her crib (unless we are out doing errands then I don't care if she sleeps in the car, I don't need a set nap schedule) so I want to see if she has any pattern of being tired so I that I know whether or not she has a chance of sleeping if I put her in there awake.
I'll just do it until I see if there is a pattern or not. I have no idea how many diapers she does a day, and I don't worry about her bottles because she always has at least 4 - 7oz bottles. As long as she has those, I don't track whether she had any extra ones.
I say, whatever works for you, then do it!
We were really diligent about this in the beginning. We logged everything. Our pedi never even looked at our logs. Then, we realized that we never even looked at our logs either! I did used to keep track of her oz, but now she is pretty steady at 4-6 oz bottles every 3-4 hours while she is awake, so its pretty easy to keep track of how much she ate in my head.
I have no idea how many dipes she goes through in a day, but this might be interesting!
I also don't really track when she sleeps, but have been thinking about doing this more just to see if there is a pattern, because right now, there isn't much of one.
I do on an app on my phone ibaby. I use it to track her milestones too it's pretty neat.
I guess I'm a bad mom. I've never tracked any of this.... I actually never knew I was supposed to. Seriously. Never heard of it.
oops
I've also never charted milestones. I just don't see it as important. She's doing great. The pedi says she's right on track. Why would I ever need to "look up" exactly when she did something? (Maybe I should have saved this for my UO tomorrow. lol)

why track??
This! I honestly can't imagine why you need to continue doing it. Trust me, you will know if LO doesn't poop for a day!
All of this.
This! I figured Id keep doing it until shes one year old--at least!

I don't know how to quote several in one message- so here goes my response .
when I tried "quitting" was because I also kept forgetting to log, when we bf it was even harder because it varied sooo much.
Now like another poster- I know when to expect when she wants bottles and each is 6oz so not rocket science. And change a diaper when dirty (obviously).
And as for naps, I know so well when she is ready for a nap that I can lay her awake and she does fine.
But even with knowing all of this, I feel like if I don't write it down I'm gonna lose it! hahah- sounds crazy I know...In the beginning I was so sleep deprived that I guess this was a way to keep my sanity without having to remember if she had a bottle at 3 am etc. Because sometimes I would totally forget!
It honestly doesn't bother me one bit to do it..and then again I like making lists (see to-dos post below
) Just curious if anyone did it.
PP can't believe MIL gave you the side eye for not doing it! My mom and SIL were surprised I even did it haha...now that I think about it DH doesn't say anything. If he gives her a bottle or changes her diaper he doesn't write it down
I'm a nerd I guess hahah
Your not a nerd, I do this everyday...I used to write it down until I found the Log4Baby on my iPhone and it does it for me. I like to keep track of things just so I have a record of it for peace of mind. And just like you said I like to not have to think when she ate last or number of diapers.
No.. I think I wrote down the amount of bottles she had for 1 day, because I was trying to get a good idea of how much she was eating everyday to tell the pedi.
