Pregnant after IF

Pessary

Today I had my NT scan and my appointment with the MFM. 13 years ago I had cervical cancer and had surgery to remove it. I was always under the impression that I had a LEEP and a conization but he said that you have either or, not both. He said that he suspects that I had a LEEP and that would not put me at any higher risk of IC than anyone else. He decided to do an exam and he was absolutely mortified. He said that they removed so much of my cervix that I am not even a candidate for a vaginal cerclage as there isn't enough to sew shut. He said that I would need an abdominal cerclage but he is not a fan of doing those while pregnant as it is a major surgery and would put the entire pregnancy at risk. Right now my cervix is 3.1cm and I go back in 3 weeks for another ultrasound. He said the best option would be for me to have a pessary placed as it would help support the weight of the baby. Has anyone ever had a pessary for IC? What was it like?

 TIA!!

Re: Pessary

  • I'm not really sure what a pessary is, but I just wanted to wish you luck. I'm sure your doctors will figure out the right thing to do Smile
