........It seems that lately everyone wants to put in their two cents about all the dangerous and wierd things that I should "watch out for"..... some of which is irrational and just flat-out wrong (BUT still causes me to worry).
I am already so nervous about something going wrong I wish that everyone would stop adding to my paranoia!
I will be so happy when the baby is born!
Is anyone else getting weird comments from others or is it just me?
Re: wierd pregnancy comments
I envy you. The old ladies in my aqua aerobics class don't stop at looks and flat out insult me.
Gasp! What do they say? Luckily I haven't had any weird comments, but I've had plenty of stares...and most from men! I think they're worried and don't know what to think and are surprised to see me waddling around.
Ugh I hate it too. I stopped being nice.
My mother in law is by far the worst. She constantly reminds me that my husband was almost 11 pounds. Or tells me about every "horror" story she can think of. She also constantly tells me that our lives are now over because of the baby.

One thing you have to understand about my MIL, she thinks she knows everything and has all the answers. I do my best to ignore this. When she tells me about the size of my husband when he was a baby, I just respond with, "Well my Dad was 13 pounds when he was born and I was born 8 pounds, so Im not too worried." (Yes my dad was 13 pounds)
When she proceeds to tell me every horror hospital story ever, I just respond with, "Nothing can be worse than what I went through last year when I found out our baby had no heartbeat at 4 months pregnant and I had to wait for a miscarriage which resulted in more complications which led to me having surgery."
As for the lives are ruined part. I just roll my eyes. I know everyday isnt going to be sunshine and rainbows but I know it will all be worth it
Im a first time mom too, and I am a little nervous, but I just have to stay focused and think positive. Talk to other moms who have had a good experience, that helped me a lot. Im sure you will do great and I wish you the best
I'm mean and I would insult them back by saying "Remember, if the water is warm around your legs...you just peed in the pool." haha
So glad I don't get comments anymore. I ended up getting upset with people and telling them off. I see a doctor for a reason and all...
This! I respond with "my life is just beginning." Even though I'm young-ish (24) I've always known I wanted to be a mom, it's just what I was built for. Some people have high aspirations for their careers - I however would have majored in being a housewife if it was offered as a college degree :P And in general you have to go into something like motherhood with a POSITIVE attitude. If you have a negative "this is messing up my life" attitude then it will only live up to those expectations.
I've gotten tons of weird comments. Some rude, some scary, some I don't know WHAT to think of.
For example, a lady once scolded me outright saying "what did you do? Did you mean to get pregnant? You're too young, you should be ashamed of yourself" --first of all lady, I'm 22. I'm not too young. And YES I did mean to get pregnant and we are very happy about it... RUDE
Another lady told me (she's about my height) that she got up to walk one day, lost her balance and her belly pulled her forward onto the ground where she was stuck for a couple hours until her hubby came home. She was induced that night due to the event... SCARY
Another lady asked me how old I am and said "good job" when I told her I'm 22. Not sure what to make of that one. LOL.
"She also constantly tells me that our lives are now over because of the baby."
This drove me nuts last time! I generally responded with something like "I guess you've regretted having children then" or "I'm sorry for your children". I do have a child now and guess what? My life isn't over! It's amazingly richer and more fulfilling than I could ever have imagined.
