In 2010 I was diagnosed with PCOS. My husband and I were told it was going to take us 2-3 years well we were both drastically surprised when I got pregnant pretty quickly. The pregnancy was very complicated but the long story has an emotional but happy ending. Any way we're trying to get pregnant again but I haven't ovulated since I got pregnant with our son so my question is...
Has anyone with or without PCOS tried (and succeeded) regulating cycles (or has gotten pregnant) with acupuncture? I'm giving it a try and the acupuncturist said he had a 60% success rate getting cycles regulated but 2 of my friends have tried it and it didnt work for either of them. They both went on to get pregnant with ivf but I can't afford that because my insurance doesn't cover anything beyond clomid-esq prescriptions. I think I've done a bit too much reading and the idea of clomid resistance makes me alittle nervous since my affordable options end with insurance. Any insight would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Re: New with an acupuncture question
I do not have PCOS and already had "regular" cycles, so I am not sure how much I can help answer your questions. I love my acupuncturist and truly believe she has helped me relax, reduce stress, and focused on my cycles and egg health.
If you are looking into acupuncture, please make sure the acupuncturist is trained/specialized in fertility acupuncture... not just any acupuncturist will do as there are specific points and types of sessions for each part of your cycle.
Good luck and I hope acu really helps you!
PAIF and SAIF welcome. IVF questions welcome, too.
I see an acu. I love her. Started seeing her just before my successful cycle, so I can't attest to much about it helping with my egg quality, although, I do believe that was the issue. As pp stated, find someone who specializes in fertility. My RE referred me to the acu I see. My acu says that it takes a full life cycle of a follicle for acu to assist with results, aka 3 cycles. Same with the life cycle of sperm which is closer to 3 months. There is quite a bit of information on her site HERE.
Please do NOT take clomid or any other fertility drug unmonitored. It is VERY dangerous and can be detrimental to your fertility health. GL!

My obgyn would be following me for 3 cycles with clomid and then it's off to an RE. Hoping it doesn't come to that though. The acupuncturist works with the 2 re's that are in my area so I'm fairly confident in him though I don't know him all that well yet.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! And thank you for the insight!
