Co-sleeping and STTN

After reading a recent post, it seems like most or at least a lot of our October babies are STTN, but I'd like to know if they're really asleep that long or do they wake up occasionally and fall back to sleep on their own?  L sleeps in her crib next to our bed and she wakes me up constantly with her night movements and whimpers.  I still want to feed her a couple times during the night because her growth is on the low side, but usually if she wakes up I give her back her paci and she falls asleep.  She stays in her crib for 12 hours this way.  So for fellow co-sleepers, is your LO in a dead sleep all night or how do you handle it when they wake up squirmy?

Re: Co-sleeping and STTN

  • My DD sounds a lot like yours. I would say that she was STTN because I didn't have to feed or change her. There are still plenty of times when she wakes up and needs her paci or just squirms for a few minutes then goes back to sleep on her own.

  • My LO still sleeps in his PNP right next to my side of the bed. He moves around a lot throughout the night but only actually wakes up (moving around and wimpering/fussing) twice a night. I feed him when he wakes. He is a fast nurser and usually will nurse vigorously for about 10 minutes or so before nodding off again. He won't take a paci, unfortunately. He almost always sleeps from 9pm to 8:30 am with the two quick night feedings.
  • Lily sleeps 8-12 hours per night and has for a few months.  Until the past week or so, that was completely straight through, not waking at all (she would sometimes whimper, but in her sleep).  This week she's been waking in the middle of the night (about 1am, it seems) and crying for her pacifier.  One night she woke a few times.
