Do you think of a grown man when you say cute? Those are the kind of things I've been thinking of when I like a name. For me, if I think *cute* I probably don't see it as a very strong adult name. But what does it do for you?

  • Honestly, its NMS. I don't picture that as a strong name for an adult. That might just be because I haven't known any people with that name. However, if you love it, then go for it.

  • I honestly think it sounds like a name for a dog. But if ya'll love it and it means something to ya'll than who gives a s*** what we think... Go for it...

  • Honestly without trying to hurt your feelings, I agree - sounds like a dog or cat. I also have a thing against first and last names matching. You have to think of when the child goes to school, and how they can make fun of it. My last name was Pachucki... for years it was sneezed at me like Pahhh chuuueee key! I will do everything in my power to try to control that if possible with my child's name. Good Luck!

This. But I think Max and Jack and Jake sound like dogs' names too, and plenty of people have those names.

  • I LOVE the name Milo. I had been considering it for us (if we have a boy), but my boyfriend quickly vetoed it. He is super picky about names, but won't give me any names that he likes. But I love Milo; its cute and unique. :)

  • I really like the name Milo and it doesn't sound like an animal's name to me (but, then again, my son's name is Jack so what do I know). :P  We lived in the UK for a few years and I heard the name a couple of times while there and really grew to like it.  It's different without being totally out there.  I think of Milo Ventimiglia (American Dreams, Gilmore Girls, Heros) when I hear the name.

  • Honestly? Not a fan. I think it's adorable for a little boy, but not a man. I'd have trouble making out with a man named Milo. ;-)

I also think of Milo and Otis.

YES! I thought of him too. He is a handsome man too! I say go for it!

  • I don't mind the name at all - it's different without being weird.  And I think the man makes the name, not the other way around.  If you both love it, then please use it!

  • I think of the singer from the punk band the descendants and an Italian guy we know who pronounces it meeelo
  • Since you asked "honestly" - I don't like it.  However, my answer is ALWAYS- if both you and your H love it, go for it.  Everyone has their own style of names they like.  You will never find a name that EVERYONE you come across will love.  He's your son, so if you want to name him Milo, then please do!  :)

    This.

  • I really like Miles. I don't really care for Milo as a given name, but I think it's cute as a nickname.

ummm honestly, Milo McCloud sounds like a cartoon character or a character in a kid's book.  As a teacher, I actually think it would make a super cute name for a kid in a book similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  Sorry, just being honest!

  • My nephew's name is Milo. In our family (who happens to be pug-lovers) we totally got over the Milo and Otis thing really fast once he was born. I personally think it is a pretty cool name. Different, easy to remember and I really like it with your last name.

     Good Luck!

  • I agree its very cute, but not necessarily a strong name as an adult male.  I too think of Milo and Otis.  As an alternative I do agree with the person that mentioned Miles-it feels stronger to me but just as cute for a LO. We have a friend that named their son Milo and admittedly we knew we were not personally into that name.

That being said, this is your child.  If you and your husband like the name you should do it.  Everyone will have an opinion on whatever name you choose so I say if you both like it-go for it!

  • I think Milo is a fine name for a boy or adult.  I didnt think Milo and Otis, I thought of Milo Ventimiglia and he is awesome! I do not like Miles.
  • I thought of Go, Milo, from the song Footloose. It is a touch cutesy buy but I think McCloud is a very strong name so it will balance out.

  • I don't think of the dog or cat when I hear it because I never saw the movie, it actually makes me think of a surfer. I like the name, but this is coming from the person who won't use Rose for a middle name if it's a girl because we like the first name Emily and ALL I can think about is the exorcism of Emily Rose.

So I guess what I'm saying is, if Milo is a good name to you, that's all that counts.

  • LOVE IT!!!  Milo is the name of the main character in one of my favorite books as a child, so I think it's great!  I also think it works for a baby or a grown man.
  • I think of the animated movie Atlantis.  I like it-but agree it might be too cute for an adult.  What do you think of the name Miro?
