I know beggers can't be choosers...and the notion that you can work with dates and times for a scheduled C/S is pretty cool....BUT...
I have two little ones at home...(4 and 2 y.o) and I would like them to be at the hospital when DH comes to the waiting room. I want my kiddos to know first if it's a boy or girl. If we keep our 7:30 am time slot, we have to be there at 5:30 AM. Our plan was originally to have a family member come pick them up at our house and bring them and my MIL to the hospital 30 minutes before I go in. I just need to minmize the time the two are at the hospital so there is less problems for family who will be with them.
When i called the nurse to tell them, she sounded like I was the first person to ever call to say the time did not work. Of course, if it's the ONLY time that will work, then I have to take it, but was it unreasonable of me to ask them to make it a tad bit later?? (I am also thinking of other family members who want to be at hospital <in waiting room to hear the announcement> but have little kids to get to school, etc.
Was I out of line?

I was given my choice btwn 8 am and 10 am, so it doesn't seem odd to me to request a later time. I ended up picking the 10 am since I didn't want to get up super early and leave before my kids were up. I will have someone bring them to the hospital when I'm out of recovery. I don't want them wait around the hospital in case things go longer than expected. But, if they weren't off of school that week, they would be at school that day and I'd have DH go get them a little early. I'm not really planning on having anyone else wait or come visit us until the kids have come to visit.
I'm scheduled for 8:00 am, but due to the whole no food thing, I'm happy that it's so early. I'm more concerned about the date... Friday, April 13th. :S Not normally superstitious, but I'm hoping that 13 is a lucky number for the OB.
Keep in mind that just because they schedule you for 8 am, it doesn't mean you'll have it at 8 am. With my second c-section, I was scheduled for 8:30 am and didn't have her until 8:30 PM! Now THAT was a long day without food... You want to see a cranky pregnant lady...

Huh. that's weird to me. My OB/hospital are apparently extremely flexible with schedules. I scheduled mine probably a month ago and it's for 4:30 pm. I didn't want it first thing in the morning because DS sleeps late and I didn't want him to wake up and us be gone (me for days) without saying goodbye.
ETA: FWIW, my OB even said she would schedule it on a sat. or sun. if that's what worked best for us.
We have a similar problem. We are at 7:30 and I have to be there at 6am. My hope was to get the 9:30/10 slot so I could drop DD off at school but they wouldn't move me. I asked MIL to drop DD off at school at 7am and then she can come to the hospital but she is afraid she will miss something and is INSISTING that DD be at the hospital.
Originally I thought it would be cool for her to be there but now I think it is a bad idea. She won't be able to see me until hours later.
I do not think you were out of line. I know under usual circumstances babies come when they are ready and we can't pick but if we would arrange for it to be a bit easier for us who have to make arrangements for little ones then it would be easier.
