Pregnant after a Loss

Random Qs and (dumb) Concerns... (got long sorry)

Ok, one big post so I don't have to make a few....

1. Has anyone pulled a muscle in their abdomen?  I have a pain at the top of my bump, right of center about 2" that is really sore.  I notice it mostly when tightening my abs or straining (if you're catching what I'm throwing - and I think that's actually how I hurt it)... any one else have similar pain or a pulled stomach muscle?  Nothing to worry about right, normal pregnancy type thing?  Could RLP be felt that high??

2.  I had my GTT this morning and the baby wasn't going crazy, some kicks here and there, but again just being a crazy lady, should I be concerned?? (assuming no, but seems odd considering all the sugar on an empty stomach - she is usually sort of quiet around that time though)

3.  What do contractions feel like?  I got home and was doing a lot, carried in a bunch of groceries (in too few trips), cleaned a bit, and starting putting together a piece of furniture for the nursery.  I started feeling some cramping similar to gas pain/digestive pain, which I figured was from the nachos I had just inhaled.  It was coming and going in surges, but that kind of pain normally does for me.  It's just hard to tell since I'm not sure where my stomach/intenstines are located anymore.  This was middle belly to low belly, usually where I feel her (which is why I was starting to think maybe it's my ute?).  I decided to stop and go drink some water and put my feet up and they basically stopped.  I guess I'm just worried I'm blowing it off as something else like gas when maybe it's something bigger.  I'm glad they are gone, but I'm terrified of PTL and I guess am a bit worried I did too much.

..sorry guess it's a high anxiety PGAL type of day!

Feel free to tell me I'm nuts Smile  I don't have an appt for another 2 wks.

  • Thanks for the feedback girls!

Theresa - It's def not BH, well at least the BH I've felt so far.  My BH have been completely painless, just tightening.  This was painful. But the point about it not stopping that you and SweetTurnip mentioned defnitely makes me feel better.

Also, glad to her your LO didn't really go crazy after your GTTs too SweetTurnip. Thanks!

  • 1.  I have had that same feeling throughout this entire pregnancy.  I think its a poor stretched out of place ab muscle.

    2.  My guy didn't go crazy during it either.  I say totally fine!  He used to get way more active with a cold glass of water then something sugary.

    3.  Ditto sweet turnip.  I started getting BH around 27weeks when I overdid it.  That's when I stopped going to the gym (which I now regretEmbarrassed) because it freaked me out too much.

  • 1. I don't know about pulling a muscle, but I have had a lot of rib pain/ab pain.  Did you notice it before you did a lot of physical stuff today?  Either way, sounds like normal pregnancy pain/soreness to me, esp. since you are getting further along now.

    2. My LO doesn't really respond to sugar.  I wouldn't be worried about it since it is just a potential side effect of the GTT, not anything it is actually testing for.  Does that make sense?

    3. Sounds like BH to me.  Bringing in the groceries has always caused them for me.  If they stop when you take it easy, I would definitely say they are BH.  I'm not sure what the cut-off is for how many BHs you should have before calling the doctor is because I never had enough to worry me, but I would definitely keep track if they happen again so you can let your doctor know, just to be safe.

The time between appts can be torture, so I definitely don't think you are nuts!

  • 1. I don't know how high RLP can be, but I've recently had some soreness all around. I usually chalk it up to RLP unless it is completely unbearable.

    2. My little girl didn't go insane either. I might have felt a couple kick during the hour.

    3. No idea, but my OB told me at my last appointment not to be concerned if I start feeling BH contractions. They are normal to start about this time.
