BFing mommas

Do your boobs just constantly hurt or remain in a constant state of uncomfort? I expected it to hurt at first but it has been 3 weeks of uncomfort. I didn't expect this. Even when I am not nursing, they just seem to ache. Between the fullness, letdowns, and nipple pain, I just don't see how I can keep this up...

  • Have you talked with a lactation consultant?

I do not ache unless lo is overdue for a feeding.  I did have a clogged duct over the weekend and that hurt like he!!.  Make sure baby is latched on properly and then after the first few sucks it shouldn't hurt at all.  I am not an expert though so maybe it does hurt more for some people.  I would definitely contact the LC at your hospital or La Leche League in your area and get some help.  Hang in there!

Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • They only like for the first days. They get a little tender in the morning when I'm really full and ds has to eat. Also my nipples get a little sore when he's going through a growth spurt and wants to eat every hour and a half. Other then that though they do not hurt. I'd talk with your doctor or a lactation consultant.

  • My boobs are a bit tender still and the nipples hurt quite a bit. My LO is over 3 weeks old. I think it's different for everyone. I've heard from many women that they were in pain and discomfort for a while. It's always good to talk to a LC but you may just be more sensitive...

  • My boobs can be tender, but it's not always. My nipples still hurt, but that is due to a horrible latch early on and they just haven't healed. At least they stopped bleeding with every feed!
